Chapter 1: Scared and Alone

*Maria's pov*
"Maria. It's time." My mom said with a sad tone in her voice.
"I don't want to go!" I said.
"We'll miss you Maria. We hope you make it big." My dad said. I shook my head crying.
"I'm sorry sweetheart but we can't afford to take care of you. You'll be needing this." My mom said, and she handed me a check.
"No. I'm not taking that." I said.
"We want you to take it." My dad said, and put it in my backpack before I could protest.
"I'll never forget you." I said to them and hugged them for the last time. I got in the limo and we drove to the airport. I started to cry, and I pulled my knees to my chest and sobbed. "Are you okay?" I heard someone say. I look up to see my favorite band. All Time Low. I shook my head 'no'. I felt a pair of arms rap around me. I look up to see Alex. He smiled down at me with sympathy in his eyes. "We received a letter from your parents." Jack said. "It was so sad. We couldn't just let you fend for yourself." Zack said. "So we flew out here and we wanted to personally pick you up, and let you live with us." Rain said. "You have no idea how much this means to me." I said while letting a tear slip. Alex whipped it away. "Are you pure Australian?" Alex asked. "Yes. Both of my parents were born in Australia." I said. "Your accent is cute." Jack said, I blushed. "Awe she's blushing." Alex said. "Your cute when you blush." He continued. "I've never been called cute before." I said. "Really? I don't believe you." Rain said. "I get bullied for everything I do, and everything I say gets twisted into a negative thing and I have no friends and everyone hates me even though I'm the nicest person to them." I said while crying. "I hate seeing fans cry tears for sadness." Alex said and looked me in the eyes. "Should we sing her a song?" He asked, and everyone nodded. "I'm sorry I forgot your name." Jack said. "Oh... I didn't give it. My apologies. My name is Maria." I said. "You have an American name but an Australian accent?" Zack asked. I just nodded 'yes'. "Well in that case why don't we sing 'Dear Maria Count Me In'." Alex said. They all agreed. "Don't be afraid to sing along." Rain said. "Okay." I said. "You don't talk much do you?" Jack asked. I shook my head 'no'. "Why?" Alex asked. "I was raped by a guy I liked." I said. "Oh my god. I'm so sorry that happened to you." Alex said. "It's okay. The guy got arrested, but we got sued. And we lost everything." I said. "Oh my." Jack said. "That's depressing." Rain said. "Why would someone do that to you?" Zack asked. "Because he was only dating me to rape me, and to turn everyone against me. And he succeeded." I said. "Well we'll come back soon and sue him for rape." Alex said, and hugged me, and I hugged him back. "I ship it!" Jack yelled. "Dude I so ship it." Rain said. "Why?" Zack asked them. I just giggled, and looked up at Alex. "We're here." The driver said. We all got out and I went to go grab my bag but Alex took it. "Nope. A lady shouldn't have to carry anything." He said, and grabbed my hand and lightly kissed it. I blushed and smiled. "Shall we?" He asked. I took his hand and smiled. We walked on the plane hand in hand I couldn't get the smile off my face until I saw the guy that raped me. "Maria. You okay?" Alex asked, and he saw who I was looking at. "Come on." Alex said, and took me to my seat and he put me in the middle of Jack and himself. "Maria long time so see." Mark said. "Leave Maria alone." Alex said. "Why? She's mine." He said. I shook my head 'no' violently. "No I'm not!" I yelled at Mark. "I think it's best if you leave her alone." Jack said while standing up. "Who are you to tell me what to do?" Mark said. "We know who you are and we know what you did to Maria." Jack said in a violent tone. "Mark who are you talking to..." the girl trailed off. "Maria." She growled. "Nice to see you too Stacy. Or should I say my ex-best friend." I said. "Maria, please sit down we've got this." Zack said. "Will all of you please sit down in your seats we'll be taking off in three minutes." The flights attendant said. All Time Low sat down. Mark and Stacy didn't. "Will you two go sit down." A grumpy old man said. "Sure." Stacy said, and pulled Mark with her. "This is going to be a long flight." I said, Alex nodded his head.
