"the commencement of hell," jungkook thinks to himself as he steps out of his new dorm, breathing in the crisp autumn air.

with the sun just peeking over the horizon, jungkook strolls down the sidewalk, indie music echoing in his ears.

as it was quite early in the morning, he could sing along to the lyrics without being judged intensely by stressed middle-aged moms and businessmen. this was probably the only reason why he liked the thought of 7AM classes, if he were being totally frank.

jungkook made his way to his favourite coffee shop, humming to the tune of the song, approaching the entrance. jungkook was hit with the smell of coffee grounds, welcoming him kindly.

the cute café was crawling with groggy college students needing their caffeine fix, and an old couple, reading the newspaper and chatting kindly to one another.

jungkook glances around and heads to the cash to order his coffee, being surprised by a familiar face from behind the counter, already brightening up his day.

"jin!" jungkook greets the smiling man with a toothy grin.

"jungkook! how are you this morning?" jin asks, already preparing the boy's beverage.

"the usual; groggy, tired, debating on dropping out of college and becoming a dog walker," the younger states, shrugging.

jin hums in agreement and holds out an iced coffee, "it's gonna be hard the first few days, but you can't debate on dropping out already! trust me, it'll be okay. have a good day today, your coffee's on me,"

"you always know exactly what to say, you're like a wise mom," jungkook chuckles.

jin gives a small smile and shrugs, "i guess it's just motherly instincts,"

"well, thank you for the advice, i'll see you tomorrow! i promise to pay you back," jungkook says, giving a grin to jin and walks out of the quaint shop, making his way to the lecture hall.

after reaching the lecture hall, jungkook finds a seat, placing his books on the surface in front of him, and his bookbag on the floor.

"this isn't so bad," jungkook thinks to himself, opening his sketchbook and sketching to kill the time before class starts.

a loud sound startles him, making him look up to see where it's come from. right in front of where jungkook is sitting, is a boy with unruly brown hair, a travel mug and a six-pack of redbull.

the redbulls roll across the surface of the desk, and the boy quickly pulls them to his chest, assuring they won't tumble to the ground. he places them upright, organising them in an orderly fashion. confident with himself, he cracks a small smile and looks around.

the brown-haired boy catches jungkook staring and opens all six redbulls with a boxy smile. he looks like he hasn't gotten sleep in days. jungkook blushes and nervously looks down, still intrigued by the boy's actions, but continues to sketch.

he turns away from jungkook and lets out a loud huff. with jungkook turning his attention again to watching the quirky boy's moves, he pours all of the redbulls in the coffee and quietly says;

"i am going to die"

jungkook quietly giggles, and watches him down the drink effortlessly.

"oh my god, what are you?" jungkook blurts out unknowingly.

the boy spins around to face jungkook.

"kim taehyung, i like long walks on the beach, getting negative six hours of sleep, and dogs"

he holds out his noticeably shaky hand, waiting for jungkook to introduce himself.

he shakes taehyung's hand, and replies confidently.

"jeon jungkook,  i like getting healthy hours of sleep, drawing, and i too, like dogs quite a lot,"

"well, 'jeon jungkook', i'm sure we'll be great friends," taehyung says kindly with a smile.

jungkook smiles and replies, "y-yeah, i'm sure we will,"

hello everyone! i apologise for this first chapter being so short. i've fine-tuned it a lot, because making a first impression is important. ;)

my writing will get better with time, i'm quite rusty lol.

this is my first "proper" fanfic, so i hope you enjoy!
