My heart pounded as I raced towards The Woods. I could hear the roars of ravenous beasts as they sprinted toward me. Closer and closer. Their slobber dribbling from their chins. Red eyes glowed with hunger and their tusks were yellowed with age. These beasts lived forever and could never be defeated. I finally reached the start of The Woods. Rumor has it that no one set foot in this area since eight years ago. The day my mother disappeared. The growls seemed to reach closer. Like tendrils of fear and rage searching endlessly for it's next victim. Me. I ran. I ran until I couldn't hear the wretched sounds anymore. My name is Sunny and I'm searching for my mother. She left eight years ago and everyone thinks she's dead. Everyone but me. I know she's still alive. Somewhere. But, something tells me she's not living a better life. That she wants to come home but something is stopping her. Something or someone. I collapsed on the dirt breathing hard. A cool hand brushed away my tears. I knew that touch. I looked up but saw nobody.
"Mother?" I called out. Nobody except for my echoes answered me. I waited for a long time.
"There isn't much time Sunny! I can't explain. You have to help me! Hurry! I'll be waiting....." a panicked voice called out. That was my mom. That was my mom!!! I whirled around trying to search for the cloaked figure that left my house in such a hurry. Without saying goodbye or telling me she's leaving. Bitter hurt enveloped me as I tried to call out. A new me was covering the old self. I struggled to fight it but it was too late. The old me was gone. Gone like the wind.
