P.s. I would like to give a shout out to Rebeca, for pushing me to write this. Thanks! ^_^)
Violets POV
I walked down the walkway in the forest, which headed toward the temple.
'I hope I am not making them wait long. They are probably starving.' I thought to myself.
I stopped abruptly when I thought I heard voices.
I followed the voices and found Baldasarre lecturing some vamp that wasn't supposed to be out.
I hid behind a tree near by them to get a closer look.
It was Xenos.
Of course it was Xenos. He was basically the only one in the clan that got in trouble half of the time. And guess who got him out of trouble half the time. Me.
I tiptoed closer to see what they were talking about.
"What are you doing out this late anyways?" Baldasarre eyed Xenos, expecting an answer. He seemed to be having fun with this.
Too bad I was going to have to disturb them.
"Uh, well..."
"He was with me," I said interrupting Xenos's response, before he said something stupid.
Baldasarre looked at me with wide eyes. As if he hasn't seen a human caring a dead animal before.
"Violet what are you doing out so late?" Baldasarre asked, finally finding the words to speak.
"I was hunting." I said bluntly. He looked surprised that I said that. What? Women can't hunt?
"Oh," he said still not believing me. "What does Xenos have to do with you and well, hunting?"
"I sent him out to look for some more meat," I looked over at Xenos with accusing eyes. "I guess he couldn't find any."
Xenos gave me that 'what did I do look' before I turned back to look innocently at Baldasarre.
"So, can you open the gate and let us through?"
"Yeah, I guess," he said sounding unsure.
"Great." I said while Baldasarre slowly opened the gate to the temple. "Lets go Xenos. Thanks for opening the gate Baldasarre!"
I snatched Xenos's arm and dragged him toward the temple before Baldasarre could answer.
Xenos's POV
Dang this girl is tough. I feel like my arms about to fall off.
"Violet let go!" I screamed at her, trying to pull away from her grip.
"You almost got me in trouble back there. No way am I letting go!" She screamed back.
"Well then why didn't you just sneak in and let me get in trouble by myself!?" I asked in frustration, still trying to pull from her hard grip.
"Because you are an immature little vampire boy and it's the least I can do to help you fit in!"
She sounded like my mom. This was going way to far, and immature? I was not immature.
"You don't need to do anything for me! It's me that needs to do things for you! And you are the one that needs to fit in the most!"
I kept pulling from her, but she was too strong.
"You are the most different, and I owe you a favor. I owe you all a favor for keeping me alive."
"They kept you alive Violet! Not me! And I am a vampire just like the rest of them. You are the one that needs to fit in, because you are a damn human!"
She let go of her grip and let me fall backwards to the ground.
"Well then, if you don't need a damn humans help I guess I'll be going now."
A tear fell down her face as she ran towards the back of the temple.
That's it. I've done it now. But my life wasn't any of her business anyway.
I can't believe she protects me even though I'm a monster.
I'm a vampire and she is a human. The two just don't go together.
Something she won't ever understand is that she will never fit in with us.
How could someone watch someone kill their loved ones and still care for them?
How can she do that? I never forgave them for killing my family.
After all, Violets mom was killed by one of us. By a vampire.
Narrator's POV
While Xenos and Violet were fighting, there was a meeting in the temple and the whole vampire clan was there.
A tall and older man, named Enrico, at the end of the table stood up.
"This meeting has officially begun." His voice boomed, "We are here to talk about our chance of being found. If we do not start being more cautious our kind may go extinct."
For a moment everyone stared in shock.
After a few minutes of silence a young woman named Mita spoke up, "Enrico, sire. Not to go against you or our people, but aren't we the ones making ourselves disappear and not other causes?"
Another young man named Alfonso spoke up, "That's nonsense! How could we make ourselves dissa-"
"Silence Alfonso!" Enrico interrupted. "Please Mita do go on and explain."
Mita looked over at Alfonso and smirked, "I would love to."
She looked back at Enrico and continued to speak, "What I was saying is that we are killing each other off. We are making these wars and every time we fight our own kind, we get a little bit closer to extinction. I mean we were the ones that started the war with the Greeks."
"She has a point," another man, named Feleti, stood up. "What if we were to stop these wars between our kind? We just might survive."
"Thank you for sharing Feleti. I just might agree. But the question now is how?" Enrico asked the clan.
"What about marriage?" Everyone turned their heads to look at the young woman who spoke up.
"What are you suggesting, Carlotta?"
"Well what if we had someone from our clan marry one person from a different clan?" Carlotta looked around.
"So what you are suggesting is an intermarriage?" Enrico asked.
"Well...yes. I see no other way to stop this war." Carlotta said bluntly.
The whole vampire clan became anxious and began talking amongst each other, invoicing their opinions.
The clan began to go out of control, when Enrico shouted, "SILENCE!"
The whole room became quiet.
"We will get nowhere with everyone talking at the same time. We shall vote."
Enrico looked around the room, "All in favor, say aye."
A little more than half of the room shouted.
Enrico counted and continued, "All who oppose, say aye."
The rest of the group shouted 'Aye.'
"Well then, the majority has voted in favor. We will have the intermarriage."
