After the bell rings I grab my bags and books and head out of language arts. I look at my schedule but I can't figure out what my third period is. "Hey," I hear behind my back. I turn around and it's Dylan. "Hey." He moves closer to me. "What's your third period?" "Actually I don't know can you help me find out" he laughs and points to the next page. Oh I have PE. But I forgot clothes, ugh. "Oh I have PE. But I don't have clothes." He smiles," I have extra clothes you can borrow. PE is my next hour too." He is so sweet. "I would love that. Thanks!" ok let me process this. I just met this guy and he has already called me beautiful and offered me PE clothes. Like what? He is so handsome and I'm so boring. Never mind that I need to start the conversation back up again. "I love your country accent." He paused and laughed. "I don't think I have a country accent" he chuckles as I feel awkward like I always do."You kind of do. I guess it's a hint of country." He blurts out the words "I guess I do." We continue to walk in an awkward silence until he reaches for the doors. He holds the door for me like a gentleman which is extremely adorable. "Thank you" is all I manage to say. We walk along the path to PE and we talk about my hometown and how my dad died and he constantly is saying "I am so sorry this happened to you" and stuff like that and as soon as we reach the locker rooms, I have told him basically about my whole life. "Here, I'll go into the boys locker room and get changed and grab your clothes." You can go into the girls locker room and find your locker and get settled and you know drop your backpack off" I nod and head toward the girls locker room and he follows me and opens the door for me. Again, such a gentleman. When I walk into the locker room I get a whiff of a mix of sweat and perfume. It's a weird combination. After I get my locker number and lock combination, I rush to find my locker so Dylan isn't waiting by the doors forever. When I find my locker I quickly open my locker and stuff my backpack into the small locker. As I'm cramming my backpack into the small space I hear a familiar annoying voice come right next to me. It's Brittany. I stay quiet to avoid any contact necessary. When I finish I am just about to walk away when she pulls on my shoulder. "Where are you going?" She blurts. I can't say I'm going to get clothes from Dylan. "I'm getting PE clothes from the nurse. I forgot mine at home." She blinks and looks into her locker. "Just borrow mine." I don't want to take those and have Dylan put his back. "No it's fine. I'll just go now." And I walk out of the locker room before she can say anything. When I open the doors I see Dylan with his bright smile. He kindly hands the clothes and I quickly walk to the bathrooms because I don't want to see Brittany again. Once I get changed, I walk out and see Dylan's bright beautiful smile. "You look so pretty." I blush. We're already so friendly and we only met like an hour ago. "I look like I got hit by a truck." I giggle and look down at my big shirt basketball shorts and Nike socks and tuck my hair slightly behind my ear. He blushes and says," You look beautiful" His southern accent melts my insides. I laugh and we walk inside of the gym. PE isn't always my favorite thing to do but when Dylan is there it suddenly becomes my favorite subject. After 3rd hour is over I hand Dylan his clothes back and I notice Brittany and her other friend Tiffany glaring at me and Dylan. They are such typical mean girls. I wave goodbye to Dylan and walk over to Brittany and Tiffany. As we walk to lunch I take one last glance at Dylan as he just shakes his head and grab the straps of his backpack and walks to lunch. I forgot he has lunch with me. "Hey you know you're sitting with us today right?" I nod my head and walk to get my lunch. The line seems to go on forever but once I get my lunch I scan the lunch room and spot Brittany and Tiffany and her clique of popular people. I get more uncomfortable every step closer to the table and the butterflies in my stomach seem to multiply. As I am about to sit down I see Dylan sitting near his friends staring at me shaking his head like he has been for the whole day. When I try to squeeze through the middle of Tiffany and Brittany, Tiffany pulls her arm out in front of me which stops me from sitting down. I feel everyone at the table staring at me. Brittany gives me a mocking stare,"Who said you could sit here?" she smirks and I know she said I could but I also know that she was lying just to humiliate me. "You said I could Brittany." saying that was like throwing fire into the fire, useless. A guy sitting in front o Brittany yelled out," Why don't you just go back to your hometown because you don't belong here. Hell I don't even think you belong with your mom and dad." I feel eyes start to water as I say "My dad died." And I pick up my lunch tray and leave to table crying.
