Life goes on exactly as it had before, except it isn't as it was before, because everything's different now. Things have happened and life simply cannot be as it once was. But still, somehow, despite everything that's happened, everyday life still manages to catch up to them.

Scott heals up soon enough, and after some debriefing and discussion, they decide to finish their protection list and keep a very close eye on all those on it. Majority of the list actually attend Beacon Hills High, which serves as a perfect excuse to actually attend school. So they go to school, and they go the station, and they look out for hunters and they split up to check on every person on the list, and they do this again and again, day in and day out.

Malia is happy to have the distraction, happy to be part of the pack again. A sense of normalcy has returned, and she relishes in it.

But despite moving on, despite all the distractions and new found missions, she still can't go home. She goes to the Tate house, and sleeps over at Lydia's and Kira's and even at Stiles' at one point, but she cannot go home to the den.

She told him to stay away, so why can't she go back?

She misses home. She should be able to go back. But it's still so new, so real, so hurtful, and she cannot face the place where she had found home. Not now. Maybe not ever.

So Malia spends her days protecting and helping and trying to pass Senior Year, and her nights alone, awake in bed, trying not to think of Phoenix.

It's harder than it should be.
