Chapter 34 - I will try

Chapter 34

*Joey's POV*

"Why do you say that?" She said, looking worried for no reason.

"Because I just know dad will hurt him if he comes close to me."

She got up from the couch and walked up to me.

She stopped right in front of me.

"If I would've thought like that when I was addicted to alcohol I would not have my family together right now."

That hit me. She is right. If I give up on Shane I will never be complete.

"But I don't want him to be hurt. Dad will win anyway.."

"Joey dear, Love will always win."

She embraced me. I felt safe in her arms, like when I was a child.

"Okay." I said in a clear voice.

She let go and put her hand on my shoulder. Then she said: "Listen, I think Shane is a good guy. I will try to keep your dad from hurting him. But I won't be able to help him all the time. I will try."

"Thank you mom. I love you."

*Shane's POV*

I got in my car and drove off to the apartment I still lived 6 days ago. Lisa would be staying at her mom's house anyway.

I opened the door and was happy to see no one inside. I let myself fall down on the couch and just thought. About Joey, how his family will never accept me and about how he's probably forced to break up with me. My stomach turned around if I thought about it. I could totally picture it. Joey standing right in front of me, his parents standing behind him. Joey would try to hold in his tears, because he didn't want to do what he was about to. Behind him his mom looked at me, she looked disgusted. And his dad.. He just smiled his evil smile at me. Like he wanted to say: 'I win, weak piece of shit.'

I snapped out of it when suddenly the door opened.

It was the person I didn't want to see at all.

"Shane. What are you doing in my apartment?"

"I paid for it as well so I have all rights to be here whenever I want." I said in quite an angry voice.

"Yo calm down I just asked.. Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?" Lisa said obviously trying to sound nice.

"No."

"Is he done with you already?"

"Lisa, please stop trying to sound nice. I can't talk to you like that."

"Sure babe."

She did not just call me babe.

"My name is Shane."

"I know." She kissed me on my cheek.

"What!? Why did you do that? I'm not your boyfriend anymore."

"You know you love me." She said smiling at me.

"I.. I love Joey more. You know that!"

"I thought he dumped you. If he didn't that means you can explain to me why you are not with him."

Now it's gonna be fun.. Not.

"I don't have to explain anything to you, I'm just here. I also paid for this apartment, you know. And what are you doing here?"

"I'm winning you back."

"Lisa, no. I'm happy with Joey."

"But I deleted the video and replaced it with one that's positive about you."

"You never even should've made that first video!"

"And I've bought you candy. It's on the table." She added.

"Lisa no. Why are you doing this?"

"We are meant to be, Shane."

That's enough. Now Joey's family 'dumped me' and Lisa wants me back. I just. No.

"Lisa, I'm out of here." I said getting up from the couch and pushing her aside to walk out.

"Bye babe!" She shouted after me.

"I'm not your babe!" I shouted back and then I closed the door behind me. I didn't think of a place to go but when I got in my car I automatically drove off to my mom's house.

I parked my car in the same spot as I did on the day I stumbled across Joey, down on the ground.

I crossed the street and had to pass the house where the guy lived who had hurt Joey and me. On the mailbox was his name.

'Nate Clark'.

Sounds awful. 'Nate Clark'. More like 'Not Smart'. I knocked on my mom's door and heard a dog bark.

As my mom opened the door I was greeted by Corny, followed by my mom. And after telling my mom what happened she told me something that I will always remember if you're afraid of losing the love of your life:

"Shane, Love will always win."

In my head I translated it, I said it out loud.

"Joey and I will win."

If you thought I was making Shoey break up you were wrong. Ha! xD

Well first I want to excuse myself for portraying Joey's dad as a total asshole. I'm pretty sure he's actually a nice guy. :)

Second, I'm sorry for leaving you at a cliffhanger almost every chapter ._. I'm hashtag Cray.
