Prologue:

As Xela Vroson ran she wondered when her life had come to this point. I guess it all started when I met William Trouble, she thought as she ran away from the monster that pursued her...

Chapter One

William Trouble watched the dark and hushed car-park silently through the window of his hotel room. He thought he saw a shimmer in the darkness. It's probably just a sparrow or something, he thought. But he couldn't help wondering what it was that made that shimmer.

William awoke in the morning with a start because he heard a scuffle in the room next to him! William rushed out to find a person trying to eat another person! Damned Warlocks, why do they have to eat people to regain their powers?! he thought as he punched the Warlock in the face. No sooner than he did this another Warlock jumped through the window straight at him! He ducked and rolled to the side just in time as the Warlock's beam of light hit the ground where he had just been standing.

He glanced at the other man and found him throwing balls of fire at the Warlock. Elemental! William thought as he shot his own beam at the Warlock which made a gaping hole in its head. As it fell lifeless to the ground William caught a glimpse of a necklace hanging around the Warlock's neck. Well, well, well... what do we have here? This could be a clue into finding out who sent them! William thought.

He saw the other man take down his warlock with a wind so strong that it blew the Warlock out the window. As he fell to his demise, William saw that he too had the necklace.

"Well that's that, I suppose," said the stranger.

"Who are you?" said William Trouble.

"Me? Oh I'm the Sanctuary's new detective, Josh Rot."

"I thought that job belonged to William Trouble?" said William. "Not anymore, the council has decided to give away his job. Did nobody tell you?"

"No" said William flatly, "allow me to introduce myself, my name is William Trouble!" William said as he lunged at Josh trying to take him down but Josh blocked him with a wall of air and then threw him across the room with a blast of water. William then shot a beam from his hand that Josh dodged easily but that beam of energy was just a trick to get him to move so William pounced on Josh and knocked him to the ground.

"Well, you are amazing at hand to hand combat" said William as he stood and brushed himself off "but you still have quite a lot to learn. How would you like to help me solve a mystery?"

"I would like that a lot," replied Josh.

Chapter Two

Alex Sethro was just a normal girl. She went to school and she found that she was very athletic, but there was nothing special about her.

Or so she thought.

As she sat in the principal's office waiting to get her punishment, it turned out she had shoved another girl who then went flying into a window and smashed through it, so now Alex had to pay for the window and the girl's injuries, which were many.

"I seriously don't know how I did that when I didn't touch her!" shouted Alex in an exasperated voice.

"Then how do you explain Abigail Ormon being pushed through a window!" the principal shouted at the top of her lungs. "Or was she pushed by some invisible force!"

"I don't know." replied Alex, who was feeling VERY angry at the moment. Then it happened, Alex heard a loud snapping noise and the principal slumped to the ground in a heap.
