-So you and Gabriel aren’t big fans of each other hm? I asked unable to hold back my curiosity and since I wasn’t going to ask Gabriel why not ask Vincent?
-Nope. We’re not. He replied as I took a bite of my sandwich. I nodded waiting for him to go on but when he didn’t I asked.
-Why?
He flashes me a small smile, his black eyes starring into mine. My stomach did a funny thing for an unknown reason while he was still starring at me.
-You know… Just boys being boys. Nothing special. Competition since High School in almost everything actually, from sports to even girls
-I see. I took another bite as awkward silence fell between us. Competition… Was really only that or there was more into it? I had to know.
-So you’re gonna show up in the bonfire? He asks me and I nodded once again
-Have you ever been to one? This time I shook my head no, and his eyes widen
-How come?
-My sister is the party girl while I am more… Nerdy. I smiled and to to my surprise he smiled back. No grimace, no rolling eyes no nothing. Just a smile. I might end up to like this guy after all
-Then you should definitely come. A lot of alcohol, swimming, music, scary stories around the fire, long walks on the beach. The perfect good bye to summer. He said again
-My sister wants to come as well so why not? I said more to myself than him as I finally finished the sandwich
-Who’s your sister? I turned toward the table in which she is sitting, laughing with the rest of them and point a finger at her.
-The blonde one. I see Vincent’s eyes taking her in and they landed to me again
-She looks cute. He shrugs
-You mean hot? That actually made him laugh, and I, couldn’t hide a smile
-Yeah. I was just trying to be..you know. Kind. He smiles again and I return the smile. No surprise that a guy actually likes my sister and-
-You are hot as well. Can’t wait to see you in shorts and a bikini. The bell rang as I kept starring at him taken aback with my cheeks burning, He rose from the table with a grin on his face
-And just a little tip? Whatever you’re gonna wear there, be sure to be comfortable. The last time we did the bonfire thing, most of us ended up drunk and half naked in the beach the next morning. And with that he winks at me and walking away.
Next lesson on my list was Physic in which I was with Cassie and Briana. Of course I sat with Briana and Cassie sat in front of us alone. But then she wasn’t alone as Gabriel came and sat beside her, flashing her a smile.
-Hey there. He told her. I gritted my teeth in anger and I could feel Briana starring at me. This guys was still trying to get to me through my sister. Fine. If he wanted to play dirty then so be it.
-Hey. She replied
-Sorry for before. My sister is… She turned to me, faking a smile and trying to find the right word
-Selfish. He add for her with a smirk on his face
-Selfish? Better that than being a dick. I replied bitterly and I hear Briana chuckling beside me, while Cassie actually gasped
-Monica! Cassie hissed through gritted teeth.
-You really do hate me aren’t you? Gabriel asked me
-She’s just- Cassie began to say but of course I cut her off
-Actually I do. I add a smirk to that and to my surprise he smirked back at me. Was this guy ever stop either smiling or smirking? Mystery…
-You finally noticed. Gonna leave me alone now? I add and hear Briana chuckle again
-Nope. And with that he turns in front again and starts chatting with my sister.
-Dude I though you’re gonna be all over him like you sister is. Briana whispers for only me to hear
-Not at all and until he realize that I’m gonna act like a bitch to him. I replied, smiling proudly
-Yeah but… Be careful. He’ll see you as a challenge and challenge, is Gabriel’s button. He replied softly.
Well I wasn’t going to be a challenge, I just didn’t like the guy. Now if he wanted to see me as a challenge that was he problem but if he even dare to go after me because I wasn’t just like every other girl, drooling over him, that was his problem again because he will just waste his time.
The lesson started but I wasn’t in the mood to pay attention.
-You’re gonna be in the bonfire too right? I ask her and she nods. Which reminded me i had to ask her something else.
-You know Vincent? I see the immediate reaction. Her body frozen, hew eyes goes wide and then her body tense and her cheeks turning pink.
-Ye-yes. She stutters a little not looking at me. Which only could mean one thing. Her brother also tensed when Vincent asked him about Briana and now she reacted like that. They either were a couple and probably he broke her heart or she just had a crush on him
-How? I dare to ask but she doesn’t reply. Not right away at least
-I will tell you but later not now ok? I nodded in agreement and look toward the teacher.
That didn’t last long since my attention fell to my sister and Gabriel who were laughing
-I’m trying to pay attention here. I told them through gritted teeth
-So? Gabriel asked arching his brows
-So shut up. Was my reply
-Help me. Or better make me. My eyes widen, making him laugh but then that small shock turned into a huge one.
-I can do that as well. Cassie said. Gabriel turned to with a half smile that would make girls fall in his arms. Unfortunately my sister was one of those girls unlike me.
-I know you do babe. He replied. My mouth was still hangning open when the bell rang. Gabriel said goodbye to Cassie leaving and I instantly went to her
-What the hell? I demanded
-Here we go again. She said rolling her eyes
-I like him. I will flirt with him. He is flirting with me. We’re gonna probably hook up. Get over it. She told me and then turned to leave like this was nothing. My jaw would have probably hit the ground by now.
-Let her do what she wants to do. Briana suggested
-No! That freaking bastard gonna hurt her and then I will have to be the one to comfort her! I exclaimed trying to keep my voice low
-Ok but it’s her choice Mon. You can’t tell her what to do and what not. She said shrugging. Well I couldn’t argue with that so I nodded
-Hey listen, after the lessons ends, why don’t you come over to my dorm help me to decide what I’ll wear to the bonfire? I’ll tell you about Vincent as well. She suggested and I nodded. Men I was so freaking curious to know about her and Vincent and why the boys dislike each other.
So I held on to that for the next 3 boring hours.
