On a mostly cloudy day, I took a stroll down a bridge that never had any cars or people. I had dressed in a hoodie and plain black jeans because it was chilly with a slight breeze. I continued down the bridge, minding my own business when I noticed a women kneeling in front of a very tall man. Upon closer inspection, I realized the woman was bleeding and pleading for something. I hurriedly, walked towards the two. "Hey!" I called out gaining the woman's attention but the man just grabbed her by the back of her shirt and threw her off the bridge. I ran beside him, looking over the edge. Without hesitation, I pushed him out of the way, took off my hoodie and shoes and immediately dived into the water.
I closed my eyes and continued swimming until I felt the softness of the woman's shirt. As I grabbed hold, I felt something grab my feet. I opened my eyes and noticed many skeletal hands clinging to my pants, I kicked and tried to fight them back. I looked back at the woman who was now looking at me smiling. Her mouth moved and even through the murky water and the sound of my thrashing, I still could hear her voice as clear as day. 'Don't fight, just sink into the darkness.' These words caused me to relax and I instantly didn't feel like fighting anymore. I let the hands take my arms and legs as they continue dragging me down. I close my eyes as I sink into darkness and feel a sudden surge of energy.
I open my eyes and feel the heat replace the cold that had covered my body. I felt something well up inside me, without thinking I let out a scream that made the water around me ripple with bursts of energy. The hands were no longer there but I continued to sink. My vision turned to a shade of grey as a black film covered it entirely. I looked down and the rock ground became an endless bottomless pit as I continued sinking. I smiled and reached for the surface that seemed to vanish from sight. I realized that I couldn't go back so, I let the darkness surround me. I turned and faced the darkness that was swallowing me. 'Welcome.' A voiced echoed. I was finally home.
