you and derek had been in a relationship for a few months now. you never told anyone since you didn't want your younger brother, scott to find out. he was very protective about you and you knew he wouldn't want you with derek. but since your relationship with derek was getting serious you thought it was a good time to tell scott about him. "are you sure this is a good idea?" derek asked as he walked into your house. "yes. scott is my brother, he deserves to know." derek sighed as you called for scott. "yeah y/n?" he stopped in his tracks as soon as he saw derek. "what's derek doing here?" he asked. "he's here because we both need to tell you something." you said nodding at your boyfriend. "i feel like you guys are about to tell me you're dating." he laughed. the awkward silence was enough to tell scott what he said was right. "what?! him? out of everyone you chose him?" derek's body tensed up but the touch of your hand on his arm instantly made him loosen back up. "scott calm down. we've been dating for a few months now and honestly i've never felt this way about someone." scott's face softened before he glared at derek. "what if he hurts you?" derek stepped forward "i would never in a million years hurt y/n." "how do i know you won't?" "because i love her more than anything on this planet. she's the only person i can see myself being with forever, i would never dream of ruining what i have with her." you connected your hand with his and smiled at your brother. "scott i know derek isn't your first choice as my boyfriend but i love him and he loves me. can you please learn to accept that?" scott sighed but soon nodded his head. "as long as you're happy, i'm happy."
