Ahyan woke up with a terrible headache. He sat up realizing he had slept on the floor at the edge of the bed. Beer bottles and burnt cigarette stubs in the ash tray. Ahyan shook his head.

'Ahh...' he winced, it pained him more. He tried standing up but felt giddy. He held his temple massaging it gently. His phone beeped and unwillingly he picked up his phone. His eyes hurt as he read the message, it from one of the investors, Mr Henry, it is a reminder for their meeting around 12 am. Ahyan looked at the wall clock, 10 am.

Ahyan had always been early bird he is amazed by the changes in him. He isn't liking it anymore.

Ahyan looked at his reflection, his stubbles have grown, his hair ruffled, his eyes bloodshot and lips swollen.

Ahyan doesn't know what happened last night, was it a dream? Ahyan's worst nightmare? Just yesterday morning everything was perfect. He had expressed his feelings to the girl he loves and shared his first kiss with her.

Ahyan couldn't understand what happened to Mahdia last night, she had called and was crying, crying. At first, he was concerned but when she said she can't lie to her mother he felt angry.

'In my whole life, I haven't lied to my parents, ever. But for you, for our love I am willing to lie, right? Then, why can't you? You said, you will handle, this is how you are handling it?' he had said. She had continued to cry and telling how much she loves him and pleading him to think of some other solution.

'Shut up, Mahdia! Stop crying. You don't love me if you did you would have spoken to your mother. Listen, Mahdia. I was a fool to have fallen for a girl knowing very well of the complexities. But I love you to take the risk, but you, you are a coward. Don't ever show your face to me again...' he had said in anger. He then switched off the phone and drowned his heart break with bottles of beer and cigarette.

With an important meeting scheduled for the next day, it was a very bad idea.

Ahyan stood in front of the mirror adjusting his sky-blue tie, he then buttoned sleeves of his white crisp formal shirt. As he wore his coat, his doorbell rang. Ahyan quickly combed his hair and walked towards the door. He adjusted his rimless glass and opened the door. He frowned on seeing Mahdia on the other side. A sad expression on her face, her beautiful light brown eyes slightly swollen. His heart fell a little but he quickly composed himself. After what happened last night, he must harden his heart.

'What do you want?' he said annoyed.

'Ahyan.'

He didn't listen and turned around entering his house. Mahdia stood at his door-steps, tears brimming in her eyes.

Ahyan got his briefcase and stepped out from his apartment.

'Ahyan!' he ignored her as he locked the door. He didn't spare glance at her as he turned around and began to walk. Mahdia walked with him and held his arm, 'please listen to me.' Ahyan jerked her hand. She held his arm again, 'please.' She pleaded him. Ahyan didn't listen, he jerked her hand so harshly that she stumbled and fell on the floor. Ahyan glanced at her, she sat on the floor massaging her knee. She looked at him. He simply looked at her for few seconds before turning around and disappearing into the stairway. Mahdia watched him with tears in her eyes.

Ahyan had a tough time concentrating in the meeting, this has never happened to him before. Love is indeed distracting and anything that distracts him from work needs to end. Ahyan thought about it feeling better, whatever happened was for good.

Around 3 pm, the meeting ended. Ahyan is happy as everything had gone well. The investors left but Ahyan decided to sit in the one of the hotel's restaurant and have coffee and perhaps a smoke. Ahyan sat near the window watching the rain. Watching the rain, Ahyan felt miserable thinking about the kiss he shared with Mahdia yesterday. He sighed and looked to the side and frowned on noticing a girl shivering in the rain. Looking carefully, he realised the girl is Mahdia.

His eyes-widened, 'Shit!' he quickly leaped from his seat.

Hurriedly he paid the bill and rushed out.

Mahdia stood under the open sky, with her arms wrapped around her. She is completely drenched in rain, she stood there shivering. Ahyan rushed to her, getting drenched himself.

'Come.' He tugged her arm but Mahdia stood her ground, she looked at him.

'First promise we will talk.' She said. Ahyan sighed and nodded, 'Promise.' Mahdia then lets him take her arm and cross the road with her. They stood under the roof of the hotel.

'You are mental, I tell you.' Ahyan told her as he booked a cab. Mahdia smiled slightly. She just wanted to talk to him, and he wasn't listening so she followed him here.
