Amelia
My head buzzes and aches with pain. I open my eyes and find I'm laying in my bed in my large bedroom. How did I end up here? I suddenly hear a door open and immediately sit up in surprise. It's James.
"How did you sleep, Darling?" He asks as he sits on the edge of my bed.
"Fine." I'm not interested in talking to him right now. I want to know what happened to Gobber, if he made it out safely, "so where did that man go?"
"Ugh, the one with the beard?" He laughs.
"Yes that's the one." I reply.
"What's so interesting about that thief?" He raises and eyebrow at me.
"Thief?" I ask in disbelief.
"Remember he stole the most precious gem in the world?" James presses two fingers under my chin and smiles, attempting a charming act.
He didn't steal me, I was helping him, "listen James, I wasn't being kidnapped, I was helping him get back home."
"You, helping him?" He looked at me with his mouth open and slowly lowered his fingers from my chin.
"Why is that a crime to everyone?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"Well I must say Princess, he's a Viking!" James shouts.
"And?" I challenge him, "by the way, stop calling me 'Princess'"
"They rob, damage, and create fear! I thought your father told you this!" He sighs in frustration, "oh and sorry Pri-"
I ignore his second mistake, "He did, but the man seemed quite nice." I point out.
"Well it does not matter anymore, he's locked up in jail, we are safe." He smiles as he places a hand on mine.
I pull away instantly in disgust and fury bubbles inside of me, "I'm telling you! He did nothing!" I yell.
Guards come rushing through the doors with swords high in their hands when my father, and James' father following up a few seconds later. They have mad looks with a hint of worry blotched on their faces.
"Well what is ever going on in here?" My father questions James.
"Everything is fine your Hines," James turns and looks at me with a pressured face, "your daughter was just curious about something."
"Is that correct Amelia?" My father faces me.
"Yes." I lie, trying not to make eye contact.
"Very well then," he sounds unconvinced, "Amelia may I talk to you?"
James nods and leaves the bed along with his father and the other guards who had rushed inside my bedroom. My father sits down on my bed and looks at me with worried eyes. I'm scared he may know. Know what I am feeling.
"Is everything alright father?" I ask, attempting to break the silence.
"No Dear, I would like to know what happened to you before you fell unconscious." He questions with a worried attitude.
"Well I was helping a man return home when guards came rushing towards us and then everything turned black." I don't identify the man on purpose.
"Who was this," he pauses, "man? Why were escorting a 'man' anyway? You have James. You are Princess, you must act like one!"
"He was innocent, kind, and looked as though he was around forty." I reply, still not identifying everything and especially not answering his silly questions that came along with it. He was being melodramatic.
