Crying, Crying that's all I can hear, the sobs of My younger brother Kleo.
Well that and the rumble of the old rusted out Dodge Ram I had associated with the strange man who was supposed to be called my father.
But how was a girl supposed to call a man Her Father when she only saw him once a month?
Yes, My Father might have only come from his holler in Gilgreng mountain once a month on supply run's, during which He would visit Me and My younger brother Kleo but he was more of a parent than my abusive Mother could have ever dreamed to be.
The slapping, the kicking, the punching
It was never abuse in Mothers eyes, but a lot of things were different in Mother eyes.
Take last night for instance, Hiera my Mother came into mine and Kleo's room, and told Me that She would be marrying Her boyfriend Jay and to have both mine and Kleo's bags packed, that Father would be taking us to live with Him in the holler. Why? You may ask, well apparently it's because Jay doesn't fell there's enough room for His three children and us. I call Bullshit, I really know it's because she is tired of the "responsibility" that I and Kleo are.
Which make's me laugh because I don't see how She looks at us as responsibility when I pay all Her bills, cook, clean, and do all the things a seventeen year old girl should not have to do to keep from being beaten.
"Kegan, Kegan" Her father's soft voice brought Kegan from Her daydream.
"Wake your Brother we're here" Her Father said.
"We're here" She thought.
Kegan could only imagined what Gilgreng would be like.
She had been had heard rumors from kids at school that they were all a bunch of inbreed's, which according to Her Father was completely the truth. Although He didn't see inbreeding in the same light as She did. "That's enough daydreaming Kegan" she told Herself as She awoke Her brother from a deep sleep. "I'll just have to figure this place out day by day".
