The words I write
Are knives
Each one sharper than the one before.
They cut deep, through everything I am.
They leave scars I can never hide.

The words I write
Are punches
Each one harder than the one before.
They hit fast, knocking me to my knees.
They leave bruises everywhere I look.

The words I write
Are friends
Each one comforts me better than the one before.
They are soft, enveloping me in the love I've never really felt.
They leave kisses to cover the pain.

The words I write
Are lies.
Each one more devious than the one before.
They are dreams, covering what life really is.
They leave false hope, hiding the real dissapointments that we really are.

The words I write
Are strangers.
Each one more different than the one before.
They leave confusion, compressing against my mind.
They leave me with the thoughts
That I don't truly know myself.
