PS. Premade work, the complete story below.

--------------------------

His eyebrows knit together, his eyes burning with worship, he shouted out above, "O God, these pitiful lambs have gathered before you in repentance! Their sins too grave to repeat in this sacred place, they lay bare before you! O merciful Father, I implore, have mercy on their souls!"

"O merciful Father, have mercy on us," they, who had listless eyes and unmoving bodies, said with voices as lifeless as the ground they prostrated upon.

"These ones have sinned, oh so terribly. As your Apostle, I take it into my hands that they repent."

He raised his blade with fervor.

"With the blade I hold, blessed with your Holiness, I carve their sins onto the flesh which You have given, and mark them as lambs that follow your words, your guidance, and your wisdom!"

As his blade cut into their flesh, only the slight flinching of the body could be seen, and hushed whimpers cutting through the eerie silence that pervades the room. They were no longer free. They, who have been marked with their sins, are Lambs.

-------------------------------------------

"Aaaahh... it's so friggin hot! Hey, you useless knight, find us a place to rest already!" a mature female voice wearing light armor voiced off.

"Forgive me, Lady. There are no resting areas in this barren place. If you would find resting under the shade of a tree uncomfortable, we can only persist in our journey," the knight clad in leather armor replied respectfully.

"That again! You've said that a bunch of times already, William!"

She looked at William, who was a head taller than her. He was tall, but not overly muscular. He had black hair and eyes. She took this time to look at herself. Bright red hair and a figure any man would look twice on. Maybe it was the reason for trouble anywhere they went?

"Why couldn't we stop at the last town we encountered? We barely stayed there before you said we have to walk again," the lady complained and questioned once more.

"I offer my sincerest apologies, milady Ann, but we no longer have the money to stay at an inn," William said whilst bowing his head.

"Aghh... I get it already. Stop bowing your head," Ann said in a defeated manner. "Let's just keep walking then."

"As you wish."

They walked for a few hours still seeing the barren mountain path, the thick crowns of trees, and the occasional animal noise. It was peaceful but at the same time desolate.

"This is so boring! Hey, Wiliam, are we still far from ANY kind of civilization?!" Ann shouted as she kicked the ground. An obvious sign of displeasure.

Ann turned to William.

"Hey! Why aren't you speaking?"

However, William did not respond.

"Fine! Don't speak then. It's not like I'm bored or tired or anything."

They continued to walk forward as the sun slowly went down. In the midst of Twilight William finally spoke, "Milady, we have found civilization," as he pointed towards past the hill.

"Huh?" Ann saw smoke trailing off past the hill in front of them. A clear sign of life being there.

"Hey! Let's go already!"

She walked faster while counting with her hand.

"Ahhh, I want to eat some proper food for once. Then have a nice, warm bath..."
