Excuse Me

The opinion of most of those who count
is something I'd honestly live without
My thoughts have brought, have fought, have sought
but as they speak up, "advice," or force
it feels as though my efforts were for naught
For I'm just a man, a boy, a child
trying to grow in his space, in his pace but displaced
I'm doing my best, as I do as myself
Yet myself won't suffice to entice
I'm not enough to amount to hisself
It's never enough to please what is stale
But as my duty as first son I seem to always fail
To wake as to disappoint at every point
Their field of view is visible to few
I am not on a list though I insist to enlist
A failed opportunity, A victim of depravity
And an excuse
