The school bell of Riverdale High school let out a ringing sound that made young Maria Reynolds winced and shut her locker with a lot more force than she intended. She holds her school books close to her chest as she makes her way to her next class which was English. She loved English. Then again she loved reading everything, she could devour a book within a day and chew on the words as if they were the sweetest fruit in the world. Her best friends would roll their eyes at her dedication to books and how she spends more times writing in her leather journal than with them. Of course, she made an effort to socialise with her friends and even went to a few parties that were considered mandatory by said friends.

"Hey Maria," the familiar voice of Hal Cooper rushed to her left side, his blue and gold football jacket made her roll her eyes as she prepares herself for whatever nonsense that comes out of his mouth. Now she didn't think all Football players were dumb and arrogant but to her, a monkey could complete their school work for them. "Look-I-I get that you don't really like parties but I'm having one this Saturday and it would be cool if you came." Maria halted in the middle of the hallway and turned to face Hal who was giving her his boyish smile which would usually work but the young brunette was in a pissy mood that morning and gave him an obviously fake smile. As she looked him up and down her eyebrow quirked in quiet judgement, she could not help but notice that he wore the same thing every day.

"Hal, look, the offer is-" Maria is cut off by a young blonde with a wide smile and sparkling blue eyes that made Hal's heart skip a beat.

Alice Smith was beautiful and tall but she was from the wrong side of the town. All her friends knew that Alice wanted to be with Hal because it would rescue her from the Southside of town. "Don't listen to our Maria, the offer was very sweet, wasn't it darlin'?" Alice spoke with a slight southern accent which was part of the charm, but to the now bored Reynolds girl the charm was tiring and came with a sharp elbow to her ribs when she didn't answer.

"How very," she replied shortly with a slight tug on her lips to try and form something close to a smile. Alice told Hal that they would all be there and he seemed satisfied with her reply. The blonde hooked her arm around her friend and tugged her towards English where Maria thought she could be left alone for an hour.

How wrong she was.

Just as she sat down in her usual seat by the window and her friends a few seats in front so they could concentrate a certain young boy sat next to her with a stupid smirk plastered onto his face. Without speaking a word Maria took out her books and pencils and almost instantly handed him the spare she always kept just for him.

"Thanks, Dollface," he spoke with a similar accent to Alice Cooper whom of which was oblivious to whatever was happening behind her. The girl merely gave Forsythe a narrowed look before settling down into her journal and blanking him. He seemed mildly hurt by her actions but soon enough he was leaning over her shoulder trying to read her journal. Without thinking, she elbowed him in the ribs and gave him a warning glare. "When will you let me read your stuff? Huh Dollface?" he inquired with a hint of mockery which only she could detect.

"When pigs fly and talk, baby," Maria responded sarcastically and a smile to match her tone of voice. She turned her head to watch his expression and was disgruntled to find him smiling at her with something behind his eyes.

"Baby? I like it when it comes from those lips Miss Reynolds." Forsythe let his fingers touch the skin on her wrist with such delicacy that it made Maria freeze and flush. Just before she could open her mouth to make some snide comment their English teacher rushed in with her hair half up and half frizz and her shirt was inside out. The boy next to her shifted so he could face the board but also come centimetres closer to the beautiful girl next to him. He knew what he was doing. He knew by just grazing his knuckles across the side of her thigh he would get a quiet gasp from her sweet red lips.

Maria tried to ignore him. God how she tried but he looked like he wanted to eat her with the way his dark eyes flickered from the teacher to her and then to her body. She felt her body shiver at every touch. This had been going on for two years now. The quiet flirting and the slightly purposeful touches from each other and now in their senior year there was nothing left to lose. The brunette girl quietly prayed that the class would end and she could escape the claws of Forsythe Jones.

They had been playing this cat and mouse game for two years and to say that Maria was getting frustrated was an understatement. She loathed how he made her feel, how he made her want him between her legs and letting out breathy moans as he licked up her-

"Okay, class remember that you have to finish Jane Eyre by the end of the semester." Ms Aubrey added as everyone rather noisily packed up. Most ignored her but Maria already finished the book and already begun planning her assignment. She silently thanked the teacher for interrupting her disturbing thoughts. 

Her eyes darted to the boy next to her that was biting her pencil and glancing over to his partner. She gave him a glare as her eyes stared at the pencil between his full lips, she held her books close her chest with one arm and the other was held out, ready to receive her pencil.

"Uh yeah thanks, Dollface." he gradually lifted his hand up and gently placed in her hand but not without grazing his fingers along hers as his slipped into his pocket. Without another word, Maria turned her back to him and quickly walked to her friends who were waiting just outside the door. She tried to shake the feeling of his fingers against hers.
