Chapter 2

WE stop at the foot of the stairs when the Mayor turns to look at us and so does the other council memebers. Marianna looks straight at us and smiles, I force a smile on my face and walk up the stairs with my sister to the doors hoping she wouldn't engage in talking to us. We're halfaway across the atrium when Marianna says "Why hello there, if it isn't Allens two lovely beautiful daughters" she says with a smile that looks all to fake. Eliza speaks before I can engage "Why thank you Mayor, I hope you're having a lovely morning?" Eliza asked her. "Why yes, yes I am and how are you Serena? You look awfully tired don't you dear?" Marianna asks me. "Tired? Oh no, no, no, just a bit frustrated thats all" I say to her. "Frustrated? Oh no dear, why are you so frsutrated?" she says with a concerned look that was as fake as her long black eyelashes.

I could see right through her, I could see every emotion she processed, I was another threat to her. "My Business club can't afford to go to a National meet in Seattle, Washington due to the fact that the school wont pay for us because of your "Briilliant" plan to build a new scoreboard, thats why I'm so frustrated" I say to her trying to provoke her. I would say anything to make her look bad and let her know I'm a threat to her just like my father. She steps forward and looks me in the eye with her piercing dark-brown eyes that could pass as black. She forces a fake smile and says "I'm sorry to hear that Serena, I really am-" I cut her off. "No you're not, you are far from sorry Marianna you don't care about anyone else, but yourself and what you think is right!" I exclaim. At that point my sister is pulling my away to disengage with Marianna before things get out of hand. We're almost to the door when I look back at Marianna and see her turn her light-brown face at me and her brown frizzy hair smirking at me. "I'm sorry you feel this way Mrs.Alfren, but as always my plans come out victorious and make everyone happy, I assume you'll see it my way soon, but for now farwell and I hope things find a way to work out in the end with your club" she says with such pride and knowing that she got to me.

"Hope? Well you know what they say about that" I say. "And what exactly is that Serena?" She smirks at me. "Leads to ones ultimate doom" I say and walk away leaving the conversation letting her know this isn't over. Eliza's about to speak but I turn the corner in the school and go to class before she tells me how I made things so much worse.
