Chapter Three
Saturday night and I’m at Sarah’s house for a sleep over. I guess. We are getting ready to go out with Jake and Chris. Skating. I can’t skate. Only Chris knows that. This should be fun.
"You know I think Jake likes me." She says as she fixes her hair. I laugh. "All I have to do is work a little more magic and he’ll be in my arms." She snaps her fingers. "Just. Like. that."
"You know I think you might be right, but I think you should go with the bang." She brushes it out and nods her approval.
"What time are they coming?" I ask. She looks at her phone.
"Now." She smiles. "One more thing." She bits her lip and looks hopeful. "I told my parents that we’d be in tonight. They said we couldn’t go out. So the window is our way out." I think about saying hell no, but what do I have to lose.
"Lets do it." She smiles and fixes it up like were asleep and then hit’s the light.
"I think you’re my new best friend." I laugh.. She opens the window. We step out on the roof and we climb down the white latter that’s attached to the wall. We sneak across the lawn and over to Chris’s car. I get in the front next to Chris and kiss his cheek before he pulls off.
"Why didn’t you guys use the front door. You came around the back."
"That’s because we used the window."
"Doesn’t sound anything like you. Not at all." I shrug. "But I knew you had it in you." He takes mt hand and kisses my knuckles. "So who else knows that you can’t skate besides me?" I swat him. "I take it no one. Fine I’ll try and teach you one more time. Just once."
"I hate skating I don’t even know why I agreed to this."
"You agreed because there’s nothing else to do Sky. Don’t be a spoil sport." Sarah says.
"Yeah. Sure."
When we get to the skating rink I get my skates but I don’t put them on. I sit down on one of the many couches. Chris sits down next to me..
"You can’t sit here all night. It defeats the purpose of our date."
"Chris I can’t skate. Remember when we were thirteen and we went skating. I broke my arm in three places." He smiles at the memory. "It was so embracing."
"Yeah. You ran into the mascot and you both fell. He needed stitches."
"Chris. Go skate."
"I need you to do couples skate with me Sky." I shake my head. "Please and I swear I’ll never take you skating again." I sigh. "Please." I role my eyes and take off my sneakers. "Thank you Sky." He says as he kisses me lightly
"You owe me."
"I only know of one way to pay you back." I smile and put on the skates. He helps me up.
"Ok not just skate…No Sky don’t walk just skate." I sigh.
"I can’t do it that way. Just let me do it my way Chris."
"Fine." We go onto the floor and skate. Until we both fall. At first I’m extremely pissed, but then I just laugh. We both laugh.
"I absolutely hate you." I say over laughs.
"Yeah. I know." He gets up an helps me up.
"I think I’m done for the night." He nods. "Help me back the my seat." He helps me back to my seat and I kick off the skates and put my shoes back on.
"I’ll be right back. I’m gonna go get a drink. You want anything?" He asks. I shake my head no. "I’m gonna go to the bathroom."
"Ok." He says.
