2:09 a.m.It felt like it only lasted about six seconds, but it was totally worth it. The last thing I remembered at the end was the springs to the rocket ship bed creaking slowly almost like an overused trampoline, fresh strands of perspiration cascading down the sides of my forehead. As I got up, I quickly spotted my Candy Apple bootcut jeans and minty green crop top next to Danny's leather varsity jacket. I stumbled away from the bed, my knees shaking in pain but my heart pumping in anticipation to what had just happened. My heart pounded even more as I heard the thumping of footsteps nearby. I looked up at the galaxy themed clock that was placed on a nearby dusty shelf. Sh*t! My mom is going to kill me!
As I slipped on my clothes, I couldn't help but look back to a sleepy, drunk, Danny lying limply on a bed that looked like it could barely hold the rest of his body. His sharp muscular arms glazed with sweat as he rested his hands under a light blue pillow with caricatures of famous scientist. His sharp jaw made a deep crease towards the mid point of his chin as he yawned loudly and made a puckering figure with his bow shaped lips. His dark brown curly hair laid perfectly on top of his head, almost as if it was fixed for an upcoming shoot in L.A. Man. Oh how I wish I could rustle my fingers across those beautiful curls one last time. After I finished putting on my clothes, I shoved my feet in my pair of wool Ugg boots, tiptoed quietly towards the wooden door, and flew out of the room as quickly as possible.
As soon as I stepped into the hallway, the fresh aroma of Teaberry and Pomegranate Vodka mixed with vomit hit me at first. Speed walking towards the end of the hallway, the hard thumping of Kesha music flooded the area around me as well. Ugh where the hell is the exit to this house?
The only lights that were beneficent in the hallway...well the only lights available, were the blue and purple strobe lights, it's strong and fluorescent streaks outlining where the staircase connected to the hallway began. As I my feet pounded hurriedly down the staircase, I pulled out my cell phone from my back pocket and clicked on the Uber app.
"A Red 2015 Toyota Camry should be arriving in the next five minutes," read the Uber app voice over. Anxiety rose in pit of my stomach as each minute seemed to crawl by slowly and slowly. After 15 minutes of waiting for the uber, I quickly pulled out my cell again, my fingers aching from the cold frost of november. A ebony red car screeched in front of me as I was still typing on my phone. Finally...what the hell took this car so long?
As I ran towards the car as fast as I could, the emotions that I had been trying to ball up all of sudden exploded all around me. Would Danny remember me? What we did? Everything he said to me tonight? Was this just a dream?
As I entered the vehicle, I brought out a crumpled ten dollar bill, slapping it into the Uber driver's hand as he held it out.
"Geez...in a rush to leave the country?" said the Uber driver as he shook his head in amusement and shoved the money in his back pocket.
"Yo' can your dumba** just drive me home already? I'm not in the mood right now for your dry jokes," I snapped as both my hands balled up into fist.
The Uber driver raised his hands up in surrender as he shifted the car in reverse. I popped in my bright pink headphones as Destiny Child's Bootylicious blasted in my ears. As I looked out the windows, I sighed as I saw the humongous, breathtaking beach houses of Pam Hills fade into smaller, darker houses one by one. Goodbye Pam Hills.
When the Uber finally entered Westbrook, all of a sudden he took a sharp turn to the left on a corner, slamming his brakes as well in the process. I pulled my headphones out of my ears in irritation.
"Yo! what the hell, man? Why'd you pull ova' for?" I barked as I folded my arms across my chest.
"I've driven over thirty minutes going from Pam Hills to West Brooks...You're going to have to pay me more than just ten dollars or you gotta go," hissed the Uber driver angrily.
"You know what? Whateva' man."
I grabbed my purse and cell phone, stomping out of the car.
"Try not to get too cold tonight, baby," crackled the Uber as he sped away.
"Your car's wack too!" I shot back. Tears welled in my eyes as I began to walk home, my house fifteen minutes away. Not only that there wasn't a chance in hell that I would even talk to Danny ever again but now I was freezing cold and it was four hours past my curfew. Sh*t. Thanks a lot, Danny Campbell.
