Second Afterlife Chapter 9

--------Toshiro's POV--------

Karin and I were having a nice time at her house until we felt a huge spiritual pressure. We burst out of the front boor and found Byakuya Kuchiki 50 feet above us trying to kill an arrancar. I just stared at Byakuya. What is he doing here?

After he defeated the arrancar, he came down right beside us. "Byakuya, what the hell are you doing here?" I asked him. He just stared at me. He noticed that Karin was at my side, holding onto my arm.

"I should ask you why Karin in holding onto your arm, Captain Hitsugaya." he told me and I just stood there, realizing that this might be bad. He might go back to the Soul Society and tell them about this.

I tried to get away from this topic. "You still haven't answered my question."

He sighed. "I am here to figure out two things. One, why you have been in Karakura town and haven't reported back to Head Captain Yamamoto. Two, why there have been a lot of hollow sightings in the past week."

My eyes widened. "What are you talking about, I haven't gotten one alert of a hollow." I took out my Soul Pager and checked it. It was working just fine. "My pager is working fine. I don't understand why I haven't gotten any alerts." Byakuya just shrugged his shoulders.

Then Byakuya's pager began go off. "It is a Menos Grande. You coming, Captain Hitsugaya?"

I looked at him and responded by saying, "I will be there soon, you go ahead." Then as he was leaving I turned to Karin. "Look at me, I will be right back, you go back inside while I go take care of the Menos." She nodded. Before I left, I kissed her forehead. "See you soon." Then I left to fight the Menos.

--------Karin's POV--------

Despite what Toshiro told me to do, I went and followed him when he went after the Menos. There is no way I will let Toshiro go and fight a Menos without me. Even though Byakuya was there too, I wasn't going to go back inside just yet. I had to make sure that Toshiro would be ok. By the time I had gotten there, Byakuya and Toshiro had both unleashed their Bankai. Even though I was 70 feet below them, I could still tell that Toshiro and Byakuya had been cut several times. Without thinking, I screamed Toshiro's name. "TOSHIRO!"

--------Toshiro's POV--------

I was fighting the Menos when I heard her call my name.  "TOSHIRO!" Before I knew it, I was facing away from the Menos and was looking right at her. I can't believe that Karin disobeyed my wishes. She came after me instead of going back inside of the house. Before I could move, I felt a sharp pain in my back. Then my vision became very fuzzy. I couldn't focus my eyes. The last thing I remember is being Karin's arms.
