BLOSSOM

Flowers can not blossom when they are deprived of light

but that is often when we bloom the most

in the contemplative darkness of night

nowhere to run but inside the labyrinth of tortured memories

left alone with our repressed thoughts

our dirty souls naked and exposed

reflecting our deepest regrets and imperfections

reliving the deep pain they bring to overcome them

purifying them from our troubled minds

like evil spirits needing to be exorcised

so our blackened slates can be cleansed

and the sun can rise a little brighter the next day
