Flowers can not blossom when they are deprived of light
but that is often when we bloom the most
in the contemplative darkness of night
nowhere to run but inside the labyrinth of tortured memories
left alone with our repressed thoughts
our dirty souls naked and exposed
reflecting our deepest regrets and imperfections
reliving the deep pain they bring to overcome them
purifying them from our troubled minds
like evil spirits needing to be exorcised
so our blackened slates can be cleansed
and the sun can rise a little brighter the next day
