Chapter I

The year is 2018. I'm Callie Underhale, and this is how my life changed. Twice.

Before the incident, I was your average 12 year old girl. But, I wasn't normal. I had flashes, visions. Like memories, but they weren't mine, or so I thought. I had memories of a blond-haired male adult, and a black-haired female adult. My day started off when I left for school. I prefer NOT taking the bus, and I walked with my friend, Caleb.

Caleb is what you might call a good egg. Trustworthy friend of mine, has been since kindergarten. No, we didn't kill our teacher, of have the janitor impale a kid on the mop because he pointed out that the janitor spelled biscuits as "biscut", if you catch my drift. He's 12 too, we both go to Jettersville Middle School. My mom is world famous baseball player Jaimie Underhale. She's the first woman to play on a men's baseball team. She plays for the Jettersville BlueJays. They're one of the top 5 teams in the US. Not gonna tell you about school because you would get bored if I told you about today's school session. Me and Caleb decided to head to the park. I whip open my phone and check Instagram. Nothing interesting. I decide to check Twitter. I see a few tweets about a giant monster. I look around and sure enough there's this manticore. Not sure where that came from. I read up on scary stories, so most things don't scare me, but that sure did. This is normally where one would say "Find out what happens next after these messages." But, no. Me and Caleb, who ran away from the monster ducked behind a bench. "Callie, this is big, and will change your life-please-" Caleb asked, but I cut him off with "Caleb, for the 50th time, I'm not interested in you. I don't want to have a relationship like that right now." "Callie, I'm not asking about that. Come with me. I know a safe place." Caleb asked. "Look! There's those adults I keep having visions about!" I pointed to a couple. "Run! Caleb will escort you! We got the manticore!" The blonde one yelled at us. "Caleb? What's going on?" I asked as Caleb grabbed me and ran for it. "I'll explain everything when we get there!" He told me. After 3 hours we finally reached a road surrounded by a forest. "Is this where that weird summer camp is at?" I asked. "That summer camp is gonna save your life." He told me. What I saw next will shock you!
