Chapter 20 -

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of my alarm.

"Ugh!" I slammed my hand on the "Off" button.

I got up and threw on a blouse and jeans. I grabbed my wallet and threw it into my carry-on bag. I finished putting in a few last minute things into my bag. I grabbed my three suitcases and drug them out of my room.

I went into the pantry and grabbed a couple of granola bars. I pulled back the wrapper and ate the bars.

I walked over to Megan's room to see if she was up. I heard her snoring through the door.

"Goodbye, Megan," I whispered to myself.

I grabbed my things and walked out the door.

Once I got down stairs, I hopped into our car and drove to the airport. Jake said he would have his driver take our car back to our apartment.

...

"Jake!" I yelled across the airport to Jake.

"Caitlyn!" Jake ran up and picked me up in his arms.

I kissed him, never wanting the moment to end.

"Get a room," I turned around to see my best friend smiling at me.

"Megan!?" I ran up to Megan and hugged her.

"What are you doing here!?" I asked.

"I had to come get the car," Megan said.

"Kidding! I came to say goodbye to my best friend! Duh!" Megan joked.

"How did you get here!?" I exclaimed.

"Dylan brought me," Dylan waved from behind her.

"I thought you were mad at me," I said, reminding everyone of last night.

"Dylan explained everything..." Megan explained.

"Oh." I said.

"Come on! We're gonna miss our flight!" Jake grabbed my hand and pulled me towards our terminal.

I let go of his hand and hugged Megan for the last time.

"Dylan, you coming?" Jake asked.

"Actually, I think I'm gonna take a couple weeks off and stay with Megan. Is that alright, JHutch?" Dylan asked.

"Yah. That's cool," Jake said.

"Promise you'll come visit soon?" I asked, tearing up.

"Of course," Megan started crying, "You better stop crying, or I'm gonna lose it."

"Goodbye, Megan," I said.

"Bye," Megan lost it.

"Goodbye, Dylan. It was nice to meet you," I said.

"You too," Dylan hugged me.

"Thank you," I whispered into his ear.

"Anytime," he whispered back.

Dylan grabbed my two extra suitcases.

"I'll get them to the driver," Dylan promised.

"Ok. Thanks!" I said.

"You're welcome," Dylan answered.

Jake grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the luggage drop-off, while I waved my last goodbyes to my best friend.

We dropped off my luggage and headed to our terminal.

"Here we are," Jake said, handing our tickets to the flight attendant.

"There you go," she said, handing us back our scanned tickets.

We walked down the runway and onto the plane. There were only two open seats left, but they weren't next to each other. They were both across from one another.

I sat down in the seat, across the aisle, from Jake.

Finally, it was time for take-off.

Jake looked at me from across the aisle and smirked.

I smiled back.

"I love you," Jake said.

"I love you, too," I whispered back.

These past few days, have been the best past few days of my life. I've never dated a guy as sweet and loving as Jake. Sure, we've had our bumps in the road, but every relationship does. There's no guy I'd rather be with than Jake. I love him and he loves me, what more could I want?

My mom always told me how much she loved my Dad. She said that love was a beautiful thing. I finally understand what she means.

I looked across the aisle, again, and smiled at Jake. He was sleeping, peacefully, against the window.

It was then, that I knew, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I now understand, what it's like to be in love.
