Maew struggled in the cultists arms, hearing her friends cry out to her trying to get her away from the gaping, endless hole. "Why are you doing this to her!!" Gregg yelled.
"Simple she's a menace." Maqes eyes widened. She knew that voice, she had for years. She looked around for the source and watched as a cultist moved closer to her. "She doesn't contribute to our lovely little town." His tail swayed slightly, moving bust and dirt.
Greg was close to having a panic attack as Angus tried to calm him down, holding his tight to his chest. "Hell she almost killed poor Andy Cullens" Mae started shaking in fear and anger began to bubble up. She watched with burning red eyes as the cultist lowered his hood.
First, she noticed his grin. Evil and sickening. So unlike the smile she'd known. Then his eyes. The blue orbs flickered with insanity not happiness or concern or any other emotion. It filled her with dread.
"Casey Hartley. I should've known you wouldn't be dead. Not sacrificed anyway... you wouldn't go out like that." Mae spat and spit in his face with unbridled rage. Casey growled and wiped it off. His claws unsheathed and he scratched her across the face. Mae cried out in pain and she head Bea struggle even harder "Mae!!" She yelled.
"This is the end for you Borowski. I never liked you anyway" Casey snarled as his combat boot raised and kicked Mae into the hole.
As she fell her life flashed before her eyes, playing with Bea, doing crimes with Gregg and Casey, pointing out the constellations with Angus, hanging out at the railroad tracks with Lori, listening to Selma's poems. All her mistakes, all of her experiences. She felt herself go numb and a familiar high pitched ringing start in her ears.
"Mae. Mae! MAE!" Mae's eyes snapped open and she looked around shaking. Bea was in front of her on Gregg and Angus's couch. Mae hugged her tight.
"Hey it's okay I'm here. I'm not going anywhere." Bea said
