Beep! Beep!My alarm goes off so loudly, I jump out of bed and slip on my slipper, slipping right on my back. My sister comes running in. " Martin! Are you okay? Do you need a hospital? Do you want an ice pack? CPR?"
That's my sister, Clarissa. She is a freshman in high school, aspiring to be a doctor. She is pretty famous in our family, not for her looks, but for jumping the gun.
"C! I'm fine!" I jumped up, starting to tickling her stomach, she bursts out laughing. " Martin, STOP!!! I TRY TO BE NICE!!!" She's flailing around, laughing so hard that her throat has gone sore. I stop and she holds her sides. Then turns to me.
" Come on, Martin, I just got this skirt washed." I look over to her, her school uniform's skirt was a bit dusted. Here in Rovana Falls, there is one elementary school, one middle school, one high school, and one college, so not a lot of new faces around here. Today's the first day of school, and hopefully, my first year of college isn't a drag.
" Sorry C," I apologize. I walk into the kitchen, grabbing some Cookie Crisp and a bowl, a spoon, and some milk. My phone buzzes, I look at it. It Mary. My best friend from middle school. I pick up," What's up?"
" Holy shirt! I don't know what to wear!" Mary screams. I practically feel my ears bleeding.
" Wear the grey and black star shirt." Her life is simple. She makes it a maze of chaos.
"Oh thank you Mart," Mary thanked me," Ready for a good day of stalking cute girls and then getting the guts to ask one out?"
I sigh, because I've had this discussion with her before. " For the last time, for God's sake, you can go hunt down some girls, but I'd rather take time to learn some stuff during my lunch period."
She laughs." I guess that there will be less hot girl on girl action for you."
"Just shut up. You probably won't even be able to find anyone today that will go out with you."
"We'll see. Bye." She hung up...
"Martin Vale!" My step-father yells. "Where the hell is my beer?" He then threw an empty beer bottle at a wall close to my face.
" Calm down, John," I say, slowly walking to the fridge, grabbing a beer out of the door compartment. I slide it across the table, landing right in his hand. He walks over to me with a death glare. He then grabs me by my neck, and throws me to the wall.
"Never tell the alpha, to calm, down." He throws me down to the floor. I struggle to get up, hardly able to breathe. I feel rage crashing over me like a tsunami. " Now go get the hell ready for school, your mother wouldn't like it if you were late."
I retaliate, spitting blood out of my mouth." At least she wouldn't throw me to the ground, or throw bottles at me." He spins around and lands a solid punch right on my chest. I'm pushed back to the wall by it. He then opens his beer and takes a whole mouthful of the drink. He then walks to the door, throwing on his "work" clothes, and opens and slams the door shut. I look to my left and see Clarissa crying.
"Martin...(Sob)," she sniffles," I don't want to see you get hurt anymore."
I rush over to her, embracing her to make her feel safe. She was shivering uncontrollably. I look her in the eyes. " C, the reason I didn't go to any other city for college, is because I need to be close by so that John doesn't hurt you, even if that means getting myself hurt in the process."
"Martin, you could've gone to any college, MIT for god's sake. You should have gone. I can take care of myself." She stated. She started to say something else, but I cut her off.
"And can you handle John? You just saw him, C. He picked me up and threw my to the wall and the floor. I'm twice your weight. Think of what he could do to you. No offense, but he could throw up the stairs without breaking a sweat." I argue with her.
" Look, it's time for me to go. I'll see you after school." She runs out the door with her backpack. Leaving me alone, in the empty house. Shouldn't home feel safe? I grab my stuff and walk out the door, locking the house. I get in my Honda Accord LX Sedan and drive to the college. I'm looking at my mirrors, when I see I have a bruise on my neck. I park my car and pull out a scarf from my trunk, also containing water, which I grab one as well, blankets and pillows, flashlights, and snacks.
As I put on the scarf, I can hear some girls saying some stuff about a new guy in town, and how he's really hot.
I would like to meet someone who has never been in this town. The last time we had a new kid, was me. Back in 6th grade. It has been about 7 years since I moved here with both of my parents. My mom and dad were so happy. Then dad died from cancer, sending all of us into a depression. Except Clarissa, mom and I told her that he had to leave us for a job in Europe. We still haven't told her the truth.
I start moving towards the giant building, which is the center of the college. Walking into the building was a rush of excitement. There were some people I knew from school and was friends with, but some I knew, but wasn't friends with. I guess some of our people took other colleges.
I look to my left to see a guy. A very hot guy. His light brown hair, his emerald eyes, his tan body. What the hell am I saying?! I'm not gay! This guy is just visually amazing. I wish I could have his body. I mean, I wish I could have a body like his. I focus back on reality, when I turn and see him right in front of me.
" Hey," he greets me, his eyes inviting me to a conversation," Couldn't help but notice that you were staring at me. You like me don't you?"
I start to talk, but he grabs the end of my scarf, pulls me forward with it, and grabs my chin, pulling his face closer to mine, he kisses me. I get really hot in the face, but his eyes are so dreamy, and he's so...
" MARTIN!" Mary screams. I jump up and instantly, everyone looks right at me. I smile, then turn around.
" What Mary?"
" What me? How about a what to you? What were you even doing? I called your name seven times?"
I blush, turning away," I was just thinking about something."
She rolls her eyes," Sure. Take off the scarf." She walks over, her chest touching mine, pulling off my scarf. She pulls off my scarf, noticing the big bruise on my neck. " Holy shit!" She grabs my hand pulling me into an empty classroom. "Martin! What the hell is that?!"
" It's nothing!" I yell at her.
She snapped," If it was nothing, then there wouldn't be any red hand marks and bruises on your neck. What the hell happened this morning?"
I told the truth, and while I was telling her what happened, her eyes widened so much, I thought they would fall out.
"Martin, I know that your step dad is terrible, but, oh my god. I... I never thought it was that bad." She walked out of the class. I stood there alone, only able to here the beating of my heart.
" Your friend seemed worried."
I nearly jumped so high, I could've put a hole through the ceiling. I spun around to see the hot guy. Visually appealing! No, he's just eye catching, just that.
Fuck it, he's hot.
" You ok?" He comes up to me with a smile that could light up a whole city. I instantly blush.
"Umm... Yeah, I'm fine..." He looks at me and frowns.
"Are you sure?" He looked at me and just yelled,"Nope, which is why you are coming with me to figure out the campus." He grabbed me by the wrist, leaving me only one arm to put on my scarf, covering the bruise.
"By the way," he turned back to me,"I'm Dylan Ramone."
