Why the fanfic, "Forgotten {A Niall Horan Love Story}", has been forgotten :(

A letter from Roxy, the original author of "Forgotten"

Hey guys! I'm back! Long time no see :( So I recently was reminiscing, thinking about when I used to write stories for 1D and decided to look up my old account (which I gave away, I'll talk about that in a sec), and realized my stories "Forgotten {A Niall Horan Love Story}" and "Abuse {A Niall Horan Love Story}" (my less famous fanfic, but a classic all the same) were gone. I also saw a lot of my old followers (whom I miss dearly), were looking for the story and confused as to where it went. People were recommending my story for others to read but could not find the original or even copies anywhere. I am so saddened by this, here's what happened as I feel I owe you all an explanation:

So after a few years of me not writing for Wattpad or going on it someone reached out to me and asked if I would give her my Wattpad account in exchange for a 1D twitter account with over 100k. Now, of course at first I was hesitant but she seemed like she just wanted a chance to write her 1d story and eager for it to be published on an account with many followers already so it would be an instant hit instead of starting from scratch. I felt empathetic for her, and wanted to help a young writer thrive so I agreed. (I now realize that anyone can truly become well known on Wattpad even from scratch if they have a good story and good writing, and that no amount of initial followers is going to help if you aren't a great writer/don't have a great plot). Before I made the trade with this girl I told her I would only agree if she DID NOT delete my stories as I did not have the chapters saved to my computer. She agreed to this and we made the trade. It was great for a while until I checked back a year later to reread my own fanfic (for nostalgic sake) and she had went into it, edited the names of my stories and changed the cover pictures. I found out she was writing more parts into my story and taking the credit for them. I was slightly upset, but my story was still there for many to access and read. I didn't mind too much and didn't do anything because I hadn't been on Wattpad in so long that I just didn't care. I realize now that this was a mistake. As soon as the girl didn't get as many reads on her stories, she started using mine and creating sequels for a story that was already wrapped up, and as soon as she didn't get as many reads as she wanted on the sequels of MY stories, she must have given up and deleted the accounts all together. Now, my name surprise! is not really Roxy, that was just an alias I had given myself to remain anonymous as I never wrote for being famous but just because I loved to write and at the time wanted to read a fanfiction about Niall having a girl best friend back home but could never find one so I wrote it myself. I still don't know if I'll ever reveal my true name, or if I'll write again (possibly, but I have some romance stories that I've started only they're not 1D related so I don't know if people want to read that? PSA my writing has improved since my early 1d fanfic days so beware haha).

Anyway, about my old fanfics. As I said, I don't have the chapters on my computer so I can't re upload them. Sadly, I wrote the story on my old laptop and have since gotten rid of that and didn't think to transfer the story over since it was accessible online. Big mistake I guess, I never thought they would be wiped from the internet for good. I worked very hard on my stories, and they were very long so it is disappointing not getting to see my work ever again, but on the bright side I had so much fun writing the stories, and interacting with you guys, and seeing how many people loved the story and had fun reading it. It brought me a lot of joy at the time so it was totally worth it even if I can't reread them. Anyway, that is all I have to say. I love you all, even the people that have since moved on from Wattpad and won't see this. If you want me to continue writing a new story, I totally would love to, (it just won't be about Niall lol) comment below! It has the potential to be very cute and cheesy. I guess I'll say goodbye for now. It has been a long journey, I started writing for Wattpad probably when I was 12/13 and now I'm going to college! Time flies I guess. Anyways, I hope the people who need to find this, find this, and I hope I cleared a few things up. :)
