Chapter One:
I remember spending time with my family, when I was yong. I had a father, a mother, an older brother and a yonger sister. Not to mention my friends Eric and Tia.
But that all changed three years ago. I had just turned 12. Men stormed into my house and my father told all the women to go hide. So we did. Then the men took my dad, brother and friend Eric.
How my father knew what to do and the reason the guys didn't hide with us is still a mistery to me. All I know is that I haven't seen them since.
At the moment I'm 15 and my little sister, Lilly, 12. My brother, Jace, would be 17 and Eric would be 16. But I'm not sure if they're dead or alive. The same goes for my dad. I just hope their alright.
My mother is now co-head of the rebellion against the men. I have been trained in combat for years and am the best in my age devision. With Tia the best in hers.
My sister on the other hand, can't seem to fight for her life. She hates hurting people, even when they want to hurt her. So she stays in the base cooking and cleaning for the other soldiers, with her friends.
As much as I'd like to say that we're winning. I'm not so shure that it's true. Each and every day we loose more and more women and they loose more and more men.
Some of their men are tortured into telling us their plan or what they know about us. The ones who aren't cooperative however, are killed. Others are taken to sells that they stay in to help us reproduce. So there will be an infinite amount of generations of women to fight in this horrible war.
Though if the baby is a boy- wich is rare because at the age of 19 they force you to be injected with a serum so that their is only a 10% chance that your child is a boy- it is killed at birth. I know it sounds a little harch, but it must be done. Or at least that's what I've been tought.
Their was this one time though, a ten year old boy's mother had hid him from the men that stormed into their house. It was durring our search to find women who had survived the attac from the men, that I found this little boy. He was under a pile of- what smelt like dirty- clothes, in his bedroom crying.
So I did what any normal person would have done. I consoled him. I took the blond haired, green eyed, little boy in my arms and told him that everything was going to be all right. Then, when he stopped crying, I asked him for his name and he told me Kevin.
Latter that day, I brought him to Natalie Mire, the head of the rebellion against the men at the time and also Tia's mother, and explained what happened. She said that it was okay and that he would be trained to be a spy.
Just a month ago, he was sent to the men's base and we have only heard from him twice. Once to tell us that he was safe. And the other to worn us about the attac that might happen. That one was sent last week.
Today, it is my turn to be the look out. It is one of my least favorite positions because their is rarely any real action. Though I always have a gun and throwing knives on me. But my partner will be Tia, so it won't be too bad. We are still great friends, even after everything that's happened, and would protect each other with our lives, if it came to it.
As we climb the mountain, their is nothing but silence. When we reach the top, she looks at me and I wish her good luck.
"Thanks, but I won't need it." She sais smiling. It was probably the most I've seen her smile since her mother was killed last week. "Oh, and you too, by the way."
"Thanks," I reply as I take my position, lying down on my stomach in the grass on top of the mountain, with her on my leaft, a sniper gun in hand.
As time goes on, there still aren't any of their soldiers. Maby they surrendered. Who am I kidding? They are probably just planing something big. This wasn't a good sign. Then we hear a clicking noise and I believe we both know what it is... Who ever is behind us, just took the safety off of their gun.
A thousand questions enter my mind...
How many are there?_ Probably more than one.
Who are they?_ Probably men.
Why didn't the other look outs stop them?_ Probably dead.
What do they want? _ Us dead.
