its complicated

I woke up and demi was gone i was hoping to see her when i woke up but its ok maybe her mom called her. I get up get dressed and brush my teeth and go down stairs for breakfast. I see nick talking to my brother he is here every morning he drives me to school i don't like taking the bus. " good morning sunshine i here him say i just chuckle. I eat my breakfast and head out the door. As were walking to his car he asks what happened with demi. " she asked me to be her girlfriend. " that's great isn't it." " well yea but what's weird is we fell asleep in my bed and when i woke up she was gone." " oh really well i wouldn't worry about it maybe she had to leave maybe her mom called her." " yea maybe ur right." we get in his car and head to school. We head to our lockers and put our things away and just pull out what we need. I head to my first class i walk in and shes not there yet so i take my seat. Just as class is about to begin she walks in hands a note to the teacher and heads to her seat. she doesn't even egnologe me. As if yesterday didn't even happen. I desided to wait till after class to talk to her.

Class finally ends and i meet her at her locker." demi" she turns around " alex listen i......then joe walks up and kisses her on the cheek she pushes him away with a disgusted look . he looks at me "scram looser". I look at demi. " whats goin on demi" she looks at me and is about to speak and he interrupts her cant u see she doesn't want to talk to you." i want to hear her say it not you. I look at her holding back tears that are​ threatening to fall. " alex please just...." " oh wow ok i chuckle you were just using me. " alex no i wasn't...." " just save it demi i should have known you were only being nice to be cause of the project jokes on me huh." i walk away " alex!!!! wait that's not true." i walk right past nick " hey alex what happened wait up" i stop and he pulls me in for a hug. " alex talk to me what happened" " she played me nick" " what that doesn't sound like demi are u shure." " yes nick in class she didn't even egnologe me then when i went to talk to her she basically blew me off. " ok so what u want to do." " honestly i just want to leave i cant deal with this." " ok ill drive u home." " thanks nick." " no problem."

" after school ended i waited outside for demi cause something didn't sound right i needed to talk to demi about alex why she did what she did. Finally after waiting about 20 minutes she finally came outside. She looked at me confused. " nick what are you doing here and don't you usually take alex home. " i did already can we talk." " um yeah​ shure." " get in ill drive you home."

ok " i get in and the drive is silent."i stop in front of her house." " so what happened." "nick its complicated." " complicated he chuckles. Why Don't you try telling that to her while shes crying her eyes out over someone who used to be her best friend she trusted you." " i know ok i messed up i get it ok she says with tears pouring down her cheeks. "What happened demi why did u use her like that she liked you." " nick i didn't use her i like her to. " " ok so what happened i just don't understand." " nick please i....." " he hurt you didn't he i punched the steering wheel im going to kill him." " no nick please you cant say anything please." " demi you have to tell someone he shouldn't be hurting you like that you don't deserve that she starts crying and i put my arms around her." " i know i just don't know what to do he says if i say anything or break up with him i will regret it. " " we will figure something out i wont let him hurt you any more ok. " ok nick thanks. " " now go talk to her he points to her house. " what am i supposed to say she hates me after what i did to her." " just go. " fine.

I look out my window and see nicks car in front of demi's house what is he doing there i thought he went home. The door bell rings and i go answer it who could that be. I open the door and there she is standing on my porch." demi what are you doing here. " i wanted to apologize to you. " what is this another one of your tricks cause im not falling for it this time." no its not a trick alex can i come in please. I move aside so she can come in. Have a seat i say. " she sits down on the couch and i sit on the other side why are you here demi." " she moves closer to me." i didn't use you alex i wouldn't do that everything i said yesterday was the truth." " ok so why didn't you say that today at school. Cause i couldn't." " cause of joe right, demi why are you so scared of him just break up with him." " its not that simple alex. " " why not." " its complicated." " what's so complicated about it " " alex i......" " you know you used to be able too tell me anything." " she starts crying she whispers im sorry alex." " i move closer to her and put my arms around her its ok demi what ever it is well get through it she pulls away and looks at me and i wipe her tears away and i notice there's a bruise on her eye" " demi did joe do this to you" she looks away from me " how long demi she still didn't look at me. I put my finger under her chin and lifted head to look at me. " demi please talk to me. " it started freshmen year two months after we started dating he was great at first always bringing me flowers, bringing me breakfast in bed, he was always complimenting me. Then things changed after we had sex. He was always distant he stopped complimenting me. He would cancel dates at last minute and say he had to work or help his mom with something. Nick would tell me he had to cover a shift for him. One day i went to his house and he was with someone else. We broke up and he kept apologizing and convinced me it was a mistake so i took him back and it happened again i broke it off he saw me talking to other guys and he went crazy he made it so i was scared to leave him. I mean i did love him but i was scared of him. I couldn't have any friends cause he said he couldn't trust me. The only one that knew was nick cause he walked in on him yelling at me and he saw joe smack me. The next think i knew Nick was beating him up. " wait nick new and he didn't tell me. " i made him promise he wouldn't say anything. Oh ok" " after that joe started doing it secretly and if he left​ a mark he would tell me to cover it up with makeup. That's why i couldn't talk to you at school that night i blew him off to stay with u he was mad he showed up at my house and no one was home. " so he hit you" " um yeah​ so im sorry i blew you off i meant every thing i said to you." " demi you need to tell someone he shouldn't be doing this to you you don't deserve this. " That's what nick said i don't know what to do if i say something he is going to know i said something and he will hurt me. Not if he cant get to you me and nick will protect you we won't let anything happen to you. She cry's more and hugs me thank you alex. She pulls away and smiles at me " i should get home my mom is home shes probably wondering where im at . " " ok will you be ok." " yeah​" " ok well if you need anything im right next door you can always text me i will be there " " i know " . she hugs me and kisses my cheek " thanks again alex. " no problem demi and she walks out the door.

The next day nick text me and said he couldn't take me to school he had to take care of something. That's weird he never mentioned anything to me. I asked shawn to take me to school. The day just got weirder and weirder demi wasn't at school. I saw joe in the hall way. I walked up to him " where is she what did you do to her i swear joe if you did something i will hurt you. " he puts up his hands whoa whoa relax dweeb i didn't do anything i don't know where she is either. " What ever i sayed walking away oh by the way nice shiner i chuckle. I just hope demi is ok i text her and she doesn't reply i go to my next class.

The day is finally over and there is still no reply so i head to demi' s house. There's no one home i try calling nick and his phone is off so i try demi her phone is off to. What could they possibly be doing.

Me and nick are sitting in the coffee shop and i turn on my phone to see if i have any messages i had it off all day Cause we were at the police station filing a restraining order against joe. Nick had bruised knuckles cause he apparently went home and punched his brother in the face repeatedly. He showed up at my house just as i was getting ready for school and said were not going to school were going to the police station. " but what about joe i asked." " he said he took care it he won't be taking you to school anymore. My phone came on and i had several messages from joe apologizing and wanting to talk wich i erased and blocked his number. Then i saw three missed calls and two texts from alex.

" i got three missed calls and two texts from alex." " me too" " lets go i need to talk to her. " " ok" . i pull up to my house and i see alex sitting on my porch. I get out of the car and go up the stairs. She looks up at me and i could tell she was crying she jumps up and and jumps into my harms almost knocking us both over. " i chuckle well its good to see you to witch makes nick chuckle to. " well it looks like someone missed someone today. " demi i was so worried she pulls away and looks into my eyes i thought he....." " hey hey its ok i put my hands on her cheeks and look in to her eyes im right here he didn't do anything im fine i was with nick. " ok so where were you all day and why did you both have your phone off" " well why don't you come inside and i will tell you everything. " ok" " i will just leave you two too talk i have to get home anyways " " k thank you nick for everything and i hug him. We pull away and he says. " text me if you need anything. " I will" and he leaves. Me and alex go inside no one is home so we go to my room and sit on my bed she sits next to me. " she looks at me for a minute and starts to speak. " demi why weren't you at school today are you ok. " i look her in her eyes i gently rub her cheek and smile at her" " im fine really i was at the police station all day filing a police report against joe he can never hurt me again. " well that's great im so proud of you for doing something She hugs me and as she pulls away i say. "Well it wasn't all me nick showed up at my house early this morning with bruised knuckles and said it had to be done. " i chuckle so that's where joe got that black eye from. " wait you saw him today he didn't hurt you did he. " um no but i threatened to hurt him if he hurt you. " i just looked at her and smiled oh you did did you. " yeah​ i did he seemed a little scared which made us both chuckle. " oh really so now your my super hero are you." yeah​ someone has to be she playfully punches my arm. " i look her in in the eyes and bite my lower lip then a word slips out of my mouth i didn't mean to say it but i was feeling it ." i love you alex" " her eyes get wide at what i said " " you do" " i look away then look back at her " yes i do i always have i shrugged" " then i heard her say it which made me smile" " i love you too demi. I put my forehead to hers and looked into her eyes then down at her lips then i kissed her it was short but sweat my stomach had butterflies. I used to get them with joe and every time i saw alex in the hall i didn't under stand why i pulled away but still had my forehead on hers." how about we watch a movie. " she smiles witch made me smile sounds like a plan.
