Jason's P.O.V.
Sarah and Olivia have been on the computer for two hours looking at different things for the wedding. Kelsey would be here with them but the baby is giving her trouble so she doesn't want to leave the house. I've tried to keep up with what they are saying but I just can't. They are talking about stuff I've never realized you needed for the wedding.
I told them I was gonna head out to the garage and maybe workout. I just don't understand the wedding talk like girls do. I turn on the local rock station. I start bench pressing 125 lbs and my phone starts to ring. I place the bar back on the rack and walk over to answer. I turn down the music and answer.
"Hello" I say into the phone. There's some moving around before a voice speaks.
"Hey Jason." Brandon says.
"What's up." I say walking over to sit down.
"Just bored thought I call. Did you pick a date?" He asks.
"May 15th." I say with a smile that I just can't hold back.
"Congratulations man." He says
"Thanks. I'm nervous as hell though." I say running a hand through my hair.
"Why?" He asks.
"I don't know. It's just so crazy. I'm really happy with Sarah. I just never thought I'd be in this situation." I say shrugging.
"Hey it'll be alright. Trust me." He says. He acts like he's been married for twenty years even though it's been married for a few short weeks.
"Thanks." I say.
"Wanna meet me for a beer?" He asks. I could go for it.
"Yes." I say a little excited.
"All right I'll come to the place down the street from your house. Say in an hour?" He says.
"Sounds good. See ya then." I say he hangs up and I head back to the house. The winter is hitting our area badly. We've had snow the past week and freezing temperatures. Gotta love Illinois winter. I hurry into the house and up to my office where the girls are.
I can hear laughing and giggling before I even open the door. I open the door to see Sarah and Olivia drinking wine. My stomach drops.
"Sarah what are you doing?" I half yell rushing over to her. I grab the glass out of her hand.
"What?" She asks and laughs. I look at the bottle on my desk and it's empty.
"Sarah. Your doctor said not to drink for a while. What are you doing?" I ask her again. Olivia is in shock because she hardly knows what's going on.
"Oh um.." she tails off.
"Olivia can you give us a minute?" I ask my sister and she nods leaving the room.
"Sarah you have to tell me what's going on. No secrets. Please." I say begging as I get closer to her.
"I don't know. I just started drinking a little more every week. I don't know what wrong with me." She says looking at her hands.
"Baby I can't help unless you tell me what bothering you." I say grabbing her hands.
"I'm just so stressed ever since a month ago. I don't know why I turned to drinking. What's wrong with me?" She says with tears in her eyes.
"Nothing is wrong with you honey. It's okay. I'll take away the alcohol so you won't be tempted to drink. We will get through this. Just promise me you will talk to me when you are stressing and not drink." I beg her. She nods letting the tears fall.
"I promise baby. I'm sorry." She says and I pull her close to me. I wish Sarah would have been open about this with me and didn't keep it from me. She even lied to the doctors.
"It's okay just please don't keep things from me." I say rubbing her back.
"Okay. I love you so much." She says pulling away. I wipe her tears away.
"I do too. I'm gonna head out with Brandon. Are you gonna be okay?" I ask her.
"Yeah. Where you going?" She asks. It's ironic that I'm going to a bar and I just yelled at Sarah for drinking. I sigh.
"The bar down the street." I say.
"Oh okay. Just be careful." She says.
"I will. I'll be back later." I say giving her a kiss.
"Okay." She gives me a soft smile. Olivia is standing outside the doorway. She crosses her arms and scowls at me.
"What?" I say and continue to walk towards the stairs. I can hear her follow behind. I climb the stairs and go to closet.
"What happened?" She asks. I stop her from coming in.
"Stay here. And I'll talk." I say re-entering the closet.
"Okay fine." She says. I get dressed while I talk.
"Sarah threw up blood the other night so I took her to the hospital. They said it was due to heavy drinking. Sarah never showed it. We figured she didn't eat much that day so she had food poisoning. Sarah's doctor said to not drink alcohol for a while but that didn't happen. Sarah told me she's been drinking quite often." I tell her. I walk out of the closet and to the bathroom. I stand at the sink to style my hair and spray my cologne.
"Oh my god. I knew she went to the hospital but you never gave out specifics but damn. I'll keep an eye on her I swear." She says.
"Thanks. I gotta go." I say walking down the stairs.
"Where?" She asks following.
"I'm going to see Brandon. Bye." I say and continue to the first floor. I make sure I have my phone and head out the door. The cold air hits me in the face like a brick wall. I try to shake it off as I head to the car.
I drive over to the bar to meet Brandon. On the drive over I think about Sarah and the wedding. I want to make sure Sarah stays safe and keeps her health okay too. I want to keep my baby safe. I need to start doing a better job. I can't believe i didn't know she was drinking.
The wedding is kinda stressing me out. I have to talk to Sarah about her mom coming to the wedding. I promised James I wouldn't let her. I don't want to let him down in anyway possible. I also need to make sure Alex can get my dad and all them out of the way too.
I pull up to the bar and walk inside looking for Brandon but not seeing him. I take a seat at the middle of the bar and order a beer. Brandon rolls in a few minutes after and orders a beer too.
"You look rough. You all right?" Brandon asks taking a sip of beer. When Brandon and I hangout it's like we are two girls in high school spilling each other's drama and life crisis. If girls only really knew guys weren't so manly around their best friend.
"So you know why Sarah was in the hospital.." I trail off and he nods his head. I continue, "well today I found her and my sister with an empty wine bottle. Olivia didn't know that she can't drink but looked guilty. I talked to Sarah and she said she has been drinking a lot lately. I'm her fiancé and didn't even notice. I just feel so bad. If I would have noticed her actions I could have helped her before she hurt herself."
"Jason, it's okay. Don't beat yourself up about this. What are you guys gonna do?" He asks. I take a long sip of beer before answering.
"I asked her to talk to me if she stressing out and not go for the alcohol. She agreed to that. We also decided it's best to lock up the alcohol so she doesn't get tempted." I say.
"That's good. Your really gonna be a great husband." He says slapping me on the shoulder. We talk for a while longer and I start to go into the stronger liquor. I start to get a buzz and tell Brandon I'm gonna head out. I walk to my car and drive home.~~~~
