My favorite spot, the window seat in the corner of this little cafe. Letting my mind drift, I think about the adventures I seek. This is mere child's play to most, times have been hard in this run down city, it's suffocating in dark gloom. Children are starving and little places like these are dying ever so slowly. It's been three years since the great war, it killed thousands of lives of that including my parents. I take a sip of my coffee, I savor the taste one last time before going to exit the cafe. As my hand reaches for the door handle the cafe owner calls my name, "Aven dear," Miss. Smit cooed "Young girls like yourself shouldn't be walking alone at night" she scolded. "Yes Ma'ma" I quickly replied as I set off into the dark streets. The silence unnerving aginst the constant click of my shoes, I pull my coat closer to my body to enclose any escaping warmth. I speed my pace as the motivation of my warm apartment crosses my mind. The defining silence sends a chill down my spine as I gradually become paranoid of my surroundings. Enclosed in my thoughts I blur my surroundings while failing to notice my approaching car behind me, it's too late, the impact of the vehicle sends my body forward onto the rough pavement. I look up to the sky as darkness surrounds me, my world turning black.
