I first noticed her when I walked into the library for a research project.
She was wearing a red V-neck, jeans, red sneakers, and a pair of mahogany glasses that framed her face as if they were a part of her. Her hair was brown and up in a simple pony tail, and at the time I couldn't figure out her eye color because her eyes were trained on a book in front of her, devouring the words like they were her lifeline. Her head slightly bobbed up and down to the music playing in her ear via some grey ear buds connected to a phone with a red case. Huh. I wondered what her favorite color was.
I figured she had to be new in town. It was a small area, and I definitely would remember her had I seen her before.
By pure chance, her eyes flicked up to me, and she caught me staring. Her eyes were brown. Plain brown. I couldn't think of anything to compare them to, because they were just... brown.
She offered a polite smile in greeting. I smiled back, rather awkwardly, causing her to let out a slight laugh as she returned to her book.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the smooth ways of Elliot Skyes.
After a moment, I returned to what I came here for. Right. Research project.

I sat down with a variety of books, just a table away from the girl. There were plenty of tables, but this one seemed more promising. It definitely was not because it gave me a better angle to ogle at the girl who'd caught my eye. Not at all. I picked the first book from the pile and started flicking through it. I could already tell that the book wouldn't have anything of value as I skimmed the first page, but I went through it anyway, hoping to at least get a start.
I'd just gotten immersed into the book a few minutes later when I hear it. A slight giggle, and then the sound of skin slapping skin. I glanced up curiously, and the girl was turning bright red in the face with her hand clapped over her mouth. I surmised that she'd giggled over something she read, and then slapped a hand over her mouth in embarrassment.
She noticed me looking and dropped her hand, sending me a sheepish smile. Cute. She returned to her book promptly, and I did the same, thoroughly amused.
I'd lived in this town my entire life. Things didn't get interesting very often around here. But if there were a new girl in town? I could see things getting interesting rather quickly.

Sooo yeah, pretty short. Most chapters will be like this.
The next chapter should be up as soon as I find inspiration to finish it (and stop feeling particularly exhausted).
