Chapter 1

Marinette's POV

I was swimming around with my best friend Tikki. She had vibrant red hair, bright blue eyes, red shell bra, and a pinkish reddish tail. I have raven blue hair, bluebell eyes, white shell bra , and a pink tail. "Marinette, come on home." Mother said. "Ok. See ya, Tikki." I said and waved and left.

At the castle

I swam into the throne room where mother and father were sitting. "Yes mother, father?" I asked. They looked at each other and nodded. "Well, Marinette sweetie, we have decided to send you to land, since you've always wanted to be up there." Mother said. My eyes grew the size of golf balls. "Really? Thank you mother, father. When do I leave?" I asked. Father snapped his fingers and the servants brought in luggages. "Right now." Father said. I swam over to them and hugged both of them. I grabbed my luggage and waved goodbye to my parents.

At a dock

I looked to see if the coast was clear and it was. I climbed out and my earrings made my tail turn into legs. I was in a red crop top, red and black faded short shorts, and black converse, black fingerless gloves with my hair up in a ponytail. "Wow." I said. I got up and I wobbled a little, but I got the hang of it. I was walking when I accidentally bumped into someone. "I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going." I said. "Nah. Don't worry about. Why haven't I seen you here before?" He asked. I had to lie. "I'm new. I just moved here from China." "Well, welcome to Paris. I'm Adrien. Do you have anywhere to stay?" He asked. I shook my head. "No, but I'll probably find somewhere. I'm Marinette by the way." I said. "I have an extra room you can stay in my house. My father is never home. He's somewhere in Italy." He said. "Thanks." I said. "No problem." He said. We started walking to his house when we got stopped by two teens. "Hey Alya, Nino." Adrien said. "Sup' dude." I'm assuming Nino said. "This is Marinette. She just moved here from China." Adrien said. I waved. "Yay! Another girl! I won't be alone." The girl said. I'm assuming Alya. "I'm Alya. Nice to meet ya girl." She said. "As to you." I said. "Does she know, Adrien?" Alya asked. "No. I was planning on telling her when we go to the beach tonight." Adrien said. Nino and Alya nodded. "Well, we should get going, Marinette. See ya guys at tomorrow at the beach." They waved and Adrien and I left to go to his house.

At the mansion

We walked inside and it was beautiful inside. "Wow, its gorgeous." I said. He chuckled. "Thanks. We don't have another room, so you'll just have to share my room. I have an extra bed, so you don't need to worry about anything." He said. I smiled and we walked to his room. It was huge. It had a side with his bed, a desk, wardrobe, and a closet. My side had the same. His was green and black. It was weird because the side I'm staying at is red and black. My favorite colors. "This sides mine, and the other was my cousins but they moved, so you can have it." He said. "Thanks Adrien. I really appreciate it." I said and faced him. "Nah, don't mention it. It's just who I am." He said and chuckled. "If it's not too late tomorrow, do you want to go to the beach?" He asked. "Sure. I'd love that." I said.

The next day

I was sitting on the couch watching anime when Adrien said, "Hey Marinette, are you ready to go to the beach?" I nodded. We got up and walked to the beach. It was a silent walk until Adrien broke the silence. "Do you mind me asking if I could know things about you?" He asked. I lightly chuckled. "What do you want to know about me?" "Everything." I laughed. "Your laugh is cute. Like you." He said and I blushed. "Well, I love the ocean. I love to draw and read. I have two best friends. Their names are Tikki and Plagg. I also love anime. And, that's pretty much it." I said. "What about you?" I asked. "I'm rich but I don't act like a snob. I love the ocean as well. I have two best friends, that you already met. I also love to read and draw. I also love anime. That's it. So, we have a lot in common." He said. I nodded. We finished our conversation, then we looked up and we were at the beach. "So, the reason why I asked you to come with me here is I have a secret I want to show you." He said. I was confused. He ran into the water and dove into the deep end. He swam up to the surface and swam over to me. He's a merman. I was shocked. "You're a... merman?" I asked. He nodded. "I thought since you'll be staying with me for a while, you should know my secret." "Who... who else knows?" I asked. He had to think. "Just you, Alya, and Nino. My dad doesn't even know." He said. Maybe I should tell him that I'm a mermaid. "Since you've told me your secret, I think I should tell you mine. Well, show you." I said. He gave me a confused look. I ran into the ocean and dove into the deep part. I swam up and swam towards him. "I'm a mermaid." I said. His eyes lite up and he had a wide smile. "What's that smile for?" I chuckled. He grabbed my hand and dragged me down underwater. He wouldn't let go while we were swimming. "Adrien, where are we going?" I asked. "Somewhere." He said. "Mari?" I heard someone say. Adrien and I stopped. I saw Plagg and Tikki. "Plagg, Tikki!" I let go of Adrien's hand and swam over to Plagg and Tikki to hug them. "What are you doing down here?" Plagg asked. I gave him a 'really?' look. "Plagg and Tikki meet Adrien. I'm living with him." I said. Tikki and Plagg gasped. "Are you dating him?" Plagg asked. I shook my head no. "No Plagg. He's just a friend." I said. Plagg let out a sigh of relief. "Marinette?" I turned around and saw my ex boyfriend, Cole swim towards me. "...hey Cole..." I let out a nervous laugh. I broke up with him because he cheated on me and hurt me. "What are you doing here?" He asked. I sighed and swam backwards beside Adrien. Cole came up to me and grabbed my wrists. He's strong. He squeezed my wrists and I whimpered. "...let me go, Cole..." I managed to say. "As long as you come with me for a moment." He said. I nodded. He pulled me away and to a bunch of coral. "I want to get back together with you." He said. I shook my head. "No. Not after you cheated and abused me when we were together." I said and tried to swim away, but Cole grabbed my tail and pulled me to him. He pulled me into a kiss, a rough kiss , but I didn't kiss him back. "Let go of her." I heard someone say. Cole broke the kiss and we saw Adrien. Cole let go of my wrists since he was holding them hard while he was kissing me. "Why should I? It's not like she's your girlfriend." Cole said. "She may not be my girlfriend, but she's certainly not yours." Adrien said. Cole grabbed my wrists again and I whimpered. "Leave... her... alone." Adrien said again. "Ha, fine. But I'll be back for you my sweet Marinette." Cole said and swam away. "Mari, are you alright? Did he hurt you?" Adrien asked. I nodded slowly. "...he hurt my wrists..." I said. He pulled me into a hug and said, "Let's head back to the house." I nodded and we swam back to Tikki and Plagg. We said our goodbyes and swam back to the beach. We looked to see if the coast is clear and it was. We dragged ourselves to the sand and our legs appeared. "Ready?" Adrien asked. I nodded and he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and we walked back to the house.

At the mansion 9:00 pm

We walked to our room. I went straight to my bed and laid down. "I'm sorry he hurt you Mari. If I could've been there, I would've done something earlier." Adrien said. "It's fine, Adrien. You don't know the whole story." I said. "Can I?" He asked. I nodded. "A few years back, Cole and I were dating. We were dating for about a year. He would abuse me. By smacking me, punching me, and cut my wrists. Then one day, I go to his house and I see him kissing another girl. I broke up with him once the other girl left. Today was the first time I saw him in 2 years." I said. I had tears streaming down my cheeks. Adrien came over to my bed and hugged me. I hugged him back. "I know we only known each other for only 2 days, but I'll be here for you. I have a shoulder you can cry on, arms that will hug you. I'll protect you." He said. "Thanks Adrien. We should head to bed." I said. He nodded and walked to his bed. "Night Mari." He said. "Goodnight Adrien." I said. We turned our lamps off and went to bed.

I'm glad I met Adrien. I'm happy he'll protect me and be here for me when I need it the most.
