Chapter 1
"It's real, Liam, just stop standing there and talk to her like a man."
Jamie was really pissing me off, if he was in this situation he wouldn't. She stood on the other side of the playground glaring at me, clutching her belly, while chewing gum with with a smug look on her face.
"I can't." I said
"Sure you can, just say sorry and stay out of the stituation, it's not like your the one whos having it!"
"What? How can I? Shes having my baby!"
"So"
I couldn't even look at him. I pulled my rucksack over my shoulders and scraped a hand through my hair and walked over to her.
"Hi" I say in a quiet voice
She looked me up and down and pulled the chewing gum out of her mouth and threw it to the floor where several others have already been.
"You alright?" She asked, as if it was a normal day.
"Ermm, I'm okay... Well I'm not okay, I want to be involved," I said "In the baby."
"Oh that, I thought you were talking about that project that me and Jamie are doing together in Science. We need an extra person actually." She said said so casually.
"Well, that too. But I mean, I'll help look look after it"
"You know, 'it' is a person, 'it' is a baby, a living thing."
"Sorry" I say awkwardly. I shuffle my feet in embarrassment.
She laughs sarcastically "Awhhh, I'm just messing with you!" She says "It's okay, and yeah, you get involved, especially in the nappys!"
"What! No fair!!!!"
"You did say you want to be involved" She smiled sweetly
Before I could reply back to her she had already seen her friend, Kayla and walked over to her. Kayla's party is where 'it' happend.
Jamie put his arm round me and ruffled my hair.
"Awhh, look at Liam getting all grown up!" He said in a very annoying baby voice.
"Shut up, you know I hate that voice!"
"Kay, we better go in now, before Mrs Bitchgerald gives me first detention of the day."
