"Katie!"
Someone was screaming my name. I could hear them, but I couldn't open my eyes. Darkness surrounded me. Every time I thought I was opening my eyes I saw only black. Had I gone completely blind? I tried to move but I stayed still. My muscles ached as I tried to push myself up.
I could feel I was lying on the ground. A pile of leaves lay beneath me, itching against my skin. And yet, I could not move. Not even slightly.
"Katie!" A boy screamed. It sounded familiar but the voice was unrecognizable. I couldn't place a face on the voice screaming my name, and even though a still could not move the idea of not knowing who he was killed me even more.
Finally, a could feel my fingertips again. They slightly began to move against the crinkling leaves. I struggled to move anymore but I continued to focus on moving the rest of my hands. If I can concentrate on moving I will be able to move sooner or later. Then again, I had no idea if this was even true or not; I was just trying to be optimistic so I wouldn't freak out.
"Don't touch her!" A girl screamed while I heard running footsteps moving closer to me.
They were nearby. I could hear her voice was closer, but was she referring to me? Who was closer to me?
I felt two hands lift me up and I finally was able to move. I kept my eyes closed not sure if I was still unable to see. I didn't want to know. I held on to the boys neck as he ran through what I assumed was a forest. I could hear the leaves beneath him as he ran. Even though I didn't know who he was I could tell I was safe in his arms, or safer.
His breath on my ear gave me chills down my back. I held on around his neck feeling his skin and the edge of his spine around my fingertips. I must be dreaming because there was no way this was real. I tried to keep my head up but without my sight I felt useless. With him sprinting through, what I believed to be was a forest, I could barely keep myself from falling out of his arms. Resting my head against his chest made me feel safer and calm even in the moment I knew I shouldn't be.
I payed attention more towards the many noises surrounding us as he kept running. More people were here. It sounded like people were fighting and animals growling. I held on tight to the mysterious man as he began to run even faster. Footsteps behind us started picking up until I heard the same girls voice again.
