prompt: person A is terrified of storms and person B loves them.
Lightning flashed through the window blinds and Marcus felt himself prepare for the thunder. One... Two... CRASH. Thunder boomed through the sky, making the apartment shake. Marcus flinched and recoiled even further into the bundle of blankets. Part of him wanted to go wake Lily up - she had said it was okay. "No," Marcus told himself; she barely sleeps anyway, and he was not about to wake her up.
"Surely she wouldn't mind..." Marcus shook his head, trying to get rid of the thoughts. BOOM. Marcus couldn't hold back his slight cry of shock and fear, then cursed himself for making a noise.
Lily could sleep through storms- in fact she slept better while it stormed. Which is exactly why Marcus wouldn't wake her up. She had been so stressed recently, which resulted in her lack of sleep. Just last night he had waked into the kitchen at 4am to get a glass of water only to see Lily at the table crying into her physics notes. "I'm just so tired," she had explained to him. "I haven't slept in over 48 hours."
Remembering the dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep was the only thing keeping him from waking her up.
The quick flash of lightning gave Marcus no time to prepare for the deep, soul rattling clap of thunder that followed. Marcus could hear the glasses moving in the cabinet. He his face under a pillow and let out a soft sob.
A bright flash of light appeared on the edge of his vision, and he braced himself. Except the light didn't go away. He looked up to see Lily, swaddled up in a blanket and eyes droopy with sleep, standing there.
"Is everything okay," she asked, voice raspy. Marcus opened his mouth to respond but a clap of thunder caused him to flinch. Lily's eyes filled with concern as she walked over to him.
"I'm fine," Marcus said, clearing his throat. Lily took in the tear stains on his face and the wild look in his eyes and flashed him a slight grin.
"I don't think so." She hesitated, "scoot over."
"What?"
"You heard me, move over." Marcus moved to the far side of the bed and Lily pulled her blanket over the two of them. The next thunderclap shut the lights off and Marcus whimpered. "Hey," Lily said, "you'll be fine. I'm right here." She rolled over and laid her head on his chest. Marcus put his arms around her small frame and buried his face in her hair.
"I don't like storms, but I'll tolerate them if it means I get to have you in my arms." Lily didn't respond, she was already asleep.a/n- hey all, this is my first prompt response.
