Soul Mates (On Hiatus)

Chapter 23!

They used the Bio-ship to get to the fortress. Miss Martian kept the ship camouflaged so they wouldn't be spotted. The alien ship was just hovering there, not really doing anything. It had a large gun on top of it, the same kind that killed the entire Justice League.
Wordlessly, Miss Martian opened the door and linked everyone up...well, everyone except Phantom and Reaper.
"Guys, you need to give me permission." She whispered while Fire rolled her eyes.
"For the love of..." she muttered to herself, closing her eyes and tapping into the link that two ghosts shared.
'There! Done!' The wolf girl said in irritation.
Aqualad glanced at her, noticing that the flame on her tail was flickering, 'Calm yourself. We have a job to do.'
Her muscles tensed before she nodded and walked toward the ship.
Robin scanned the ship and hummed, 'The weak spots are there...there...and there.' As he pointed them out, Fire, Phantom, and Reaper all focused on one spot.
Fire bared her teeth and charged, her claws ripping through the metal while Phantom and Danny shot through it. Phantom iced over the entire ship right after so the thing inside couldn't see or get out.
"Good, now we can get the gun." Aqualad said.
Kid grinned as he chimed in, "Fighting fire with fire!"
The wolf girl glanced at him, "Fighting fire with me huh? Sounds fun."
The speedster paused before he deadpanned, "That wasn't even funny."
Superboy rolled his eyes and jumped onto the ship, trying to pull the gun off of it. A little red light flashed and before the clone knew it, Fire had tackled him into the snow and her tail was gone.
She blinked and looked behind her with a squeak, her tail. Was. Fucking. Gone!
"Damn it! How did that not hurt!?" She screetched. Megan looked at it with wide eyes.
"No! Are you alright!?" The green skinned girl ran up to her with a worried expression and gently touched the area where her tail would've connected to her back. They all felt pain in their heads and suddenly, the entire situation seemed to crash down on them. It was all real.
Robin's breathing stuttered for a moment at the thought of Batman being dead while Wally went through the same realization with his mentor.
SB looked at his sister with wide eyes, "I'm sorry! I should've been paying attention." Fire snorted as she got up and helped his stand. It felt strange; not feeling her tail brush the back of her legs, it felt like her center of balance had been altered slightly.
"It's not your fault, little bro." She smiled a little, "Now, go get the gun off of that ship."
He nodded hesitatantly and went to tear that gun off. When he turned his back the wolf girl frowned and glanced behind her again. A whine escaped her throat and she forced her flame to flare up and create a tail. It wasn't real, she knew, but it would help her to keep the sense of normality for the time being.
The blue eyed boy handed the gun off to the ghosts who immediately went back to the Bio-ship, placing it on it like Megan told them to do.
'All weapons will be offline while I'm installing this.' She informed, already starting the process. The others nodded and kept watch.
They didn't wait long for action to start though. More ships started coming in. Only five of them, but it was enough. Reaper took out his scythe and tore blocked a few attacks before tearing through the metal, causing the ship to explode. Phantom sent ice spikes through another one.
Fire gritted her teeth as she charged forward, her fake tail making it a bit difficult. She moved to the left and right as shots were fired at her. Finally, she jumped up and used her claws to destroy the gun.
"Not so tough now are you bitch!?"
Superboy finished the job when he literally plowed straight through the bottom, grabbing Fire before she was caught in the explosion.
"How much longer M'gann!?" Aqualad yelled, using his water whips to destroy a ship.
'A few more minutes!' The Martian replied.
Fire grunted and pushed SB away as she looked up at the sky, "We don't have that long! Look!" The others glanced up and saw more ships.
Reaper and Phantom tag teamed on the last of the five ships that showed up before they had to dodge more cannon fire.
"Shit! We have to go!" Phantom yelled.
Reaper looked behind them and his eyes widened. As fast as he could, he spun around and sent a low powered ghostly wail toward the ships to slow them down. A shot from one of the guns grazed his right arm and he yelled in surprise when he saw that part of his suit and skin was gone, but rapidly healing all the same.
Everyone loaded into the Bio-ship, everyone except the ghost boys. Megan was working on the gun from the inside now while Robin steered the ship. Reaper and Phantom blasted as many ships as they could as fast as they could, but they desperately needed to get out of there and fast.

AN. Imma leave it here. I'm really sorry that I haven't updated this in a while, but I've been working on some side projects and stuff. I've so been trying to convince my parents to let me go to Florida to see my brother. Hopefully I'll be able to go, but, for now, I think it's a good cliffhanger. I'll try my best to update again soon. So, until next time, that's a wrap!
