Chapter 87

Moana's POV

  I was hesitant to visit Maui given his current state, but I knew that I needed to see him. Poor Maui. He's loosing his hair and he looks weaker than I've ever seen him. Maui's usually so strong and for him to be this sick and in so much pain makes me wish it were me lying in that hospital bed instead of him. "Maui, I'm so sorry this happened to you." I know that crying bothers Maui but I can't hold back my tears. My best friend could easily be on the verge of death at any given moment in about twenty different ways. He could have a stroke, starve himself, and a ton of other dark circumstances. 

   Maui takes a strand of hair hanging in front of my face and gently tucks it behind my ear. "Mo, this isn't your fault. Please don't worry about me. It's not good for you and the babies. The last thing I'd want is for you to stress yourself out to the point where something goes wrong with the pregnancy. Don't you want the twins to be healthy?" I silently nod while more tears stream down my face. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life. "Maui, please promise me that you'll come out of this. Promise me that you're going to be okay. Tama needs you, the twins will need you, and I need you." He smiles tiredly. "I can't promise that I'm going to be a hundred percent okay, but I will promise you this. I will come out of this in due time and eventually I'll be the Maui that you know and love."

  I look at him with nothing but pure love. "You better or else you'll be in big trouble." I glance at Tama jokingly. "Am I right Tama?" Tama smirks and joins my side, wrapping an arm around me. "You're absolutely right Mo. When Maui's better, I'm going to kiss his ass for scaring us like this." That earns a weak laugh out of Maui, who ends up bursting into a coughing fit. My smile turns into a frown. I hand him a cup of water in which he drinks rather quickly, though the water seems to help. "Maui, you should get some rest." He nods in agreement. "You should too Mo." I sit down in a chair beside him and begin to doze off as does Maui in bed. I try to convince Tama to get some rest as well but he claims he isn't tired. Oh Tama, you're in so much more pain than I am. I just hope that you don't fall apart like I have. Maui needs you even more than he does me.
