Yang's house was on the outskirts of the city. It was HUGE. It was the biggest home I had ever seen.
"How were you guys able to afford this?! It's huge!" I said.
She laughed again. "One of my girl friends is Weiss Schnee."
"Weiss Schnee? As in CEO of the Schnee Dust Company?"
"Yessir! She's a bit of a hothead, but she's cool when you get to know her. The four of us were on a team at Beacon, so after we graduated Weiss got this for us to live in."
"You went to Beacon?"
"Yep! It was SOOOO much fun."
"Cool." We walked up the front steps to the massive red wooden door.
"Totally. So, James, what brings you to town?" she asked as she unlocked and opened the door. The inside was a strange couple with the outside. Inside was very... Homey. Other than the large diamond chandelier above the entryway, it looked to be furnished just like a cookie cutter home in the suburbs. The walls were plaster, the stairs had wooden railings, the carpet was lush and slightly bouncy when you walked on it.
"Actually, I'm going to start at Beacon this semester."
"No way! You're going to love it. Especially with Ruby as headmistress."
"Professor Rose?"
"Is my little sister."
"What? How old are you?! You only look to be around twenty five!"
"Twenty six, but thank you. And yeah, Ruby is only twenty four."
"And she's the headmistress of Beacon?"
"Uh huh. I'm so proud of her. She got accepted to Beacon at fifteen years old. We went at the same time, which is why we were on the same team."
"She was fifteen? Wow. How'd she accomplish that?"
"She took on a gang of criminals robbing a dust shop by herself and the only reason she lost was because they had an extremely powerful woman with them who not even Glynda Goodwitch could stop. She would've killed Ruby if Professor Goodwitch hadn't helped her. Ozpin offered her a spot at the school after seeing that."
"Wow.."
"Yeah. She's the best scythe wielder in the world."
"I've heard that. She learned from her uncle. Who was the best at the time but she surpassed him after her time at Beacon. Crescent Rose is her scythe's name, right?"
"Yep. What's your weapon?"
"Oh, uh, it's kind of a hand-me-down."
"One of the best strategists I know used a hand-me-down sword and shield. In fact he's Ruby's assistant."
"Oh, well, it's an ice dust-infused boomerang. It was my dad's, before he was killed."
"I'm so sorry... My mom was killed, too. What's its name?"
"Viartannie Ijs."
"That's a pretty cool name. My bracelets are my Ember Celica. They turn into shotgun gauntlets."
"Those?" I pointed at her wrists.
"Yep." She pumped her arms like she was getting ready to box and the bracelets got so big they covered up her hands and went up her forearms.
"Wow! That's cool!"
"Uh huh. Sooooo... It's like one. How bout food?"
"Food sounds amazing right now. But I promise I won't abuse your hospitality."
