Serenity's P.o.v.

---------------------------------------------

We sat in the lodge eating dinner, Caden and I holding hands under the table. I was still sniffing from crying earlier.

"Serenity, I'm sorry! It slipped... I didn't mean it..." Levi tried.

"I know. But I also know you're right. When it comes to me vs. him, chances aren't in my favor." I said, then clamped my hand over my mouth.

I slipped up. If I kept talking like this, they would figure out I know who the necromancer is...

Levi narrowed his eyes at me. "He?"

I sighed. But I couldn't tell them...

They'd see me differently, "He... Oh just death. The grim reaper..." I said, pushing my food around my plate.

Caden squeezed my hand. "You'll be fine Sen." He said. I didn't believe him. Knowing who the necromancer really makes me lose all hope. He always won.

I hid this, and squeezed back. "Only with you." I responded, and excused myself from the table to our cabin.

I sat on my bed, and opened my notebook. I took a deep breath, and started writing.

Dear Macen,

How are you? It's been a while since I heard from you last! I miss my big brother! Anyway, I think you know why I'm writing. If not I'm gonna tell you. Right now.

Mace. You need to stop using your dust. I know you think it's cool, and as close to a superpower you're going to get, but it's dangerous! And it's putting you on the radar. Their counting you as evil. There was a prophecy a seer had, with you in it! I can't protect you forever.

Love,

Serenity

I tore it out of the notebook and put it in an envelope. I called a dove to come get it, and asked her if she could take it to Macen. She nodded and took it in her beak, flying away as Lillie walked in.

"Who was that for?" She asked

"Friends back home." I answered, calmly as possible. She shrugged and sat on her bed.

"Hey. Get some sleep Serenity. You've been crying forever, and you look tired." She said. I agreed and laid down.

I fell asleep but it didn't help much. All I saw was Mace, and him threatening me.

Or worse, Caden, Levi, or Lillie.

I woke with a start, in Caden's arms. He had felt free to join me in my bed. I hugged him tight, and buried my face in him. His arms gripped around me, and I felt safe.

For now.
