Chapter 4

When I wake up I'm slightly hazy about where I am, but finally remember that I stayed at Carson's last night. I jump out of bed and open the door listening to see if I can hear Carson in his room. When I don't, I know that he isn't awake yet, so I walk to his room and slowly open the door.

Carson is lying in his bed on his back, with his one arm above his head and his other draped over the side of his bed. He looks so peaceful and goodlooking when he's sle- Woah, wait. Did I just say goodlooking. I'm interupted by my thoughts. Skye snap out of it. Carson is your friend, those days are long gone.

Now that I'm back in my right mind, I shake Carson awake knowing he won't wake himself. He stirs, but doesn't open his eyes, so I poke him and yell in his ear. I still don't get a reaction. I forgot how heavy a sleeper he is. If we must do this the hard way, then we will. I think as I grab his sneakers on the ground.

Walking back up to the bed I hold his shoes over my head. 1...2...3..."WAKE UP!" I start to hit Carson on his stomach with the shoes while repeatedly shouting. Slowly, I see him start to come back to this world.

"What the fuck Skye!" He growls, someones grumpy in the morning. I chuckle, "Whoops, they must've slipped... many times, from my hands."

He glares at me and then goes to jump in the shower. Since I had a shower last night, I just brush my hair and throw on a new pair of underwear, blue jean shorts and a plain white tshirt I left here. I brush my teeth in the guest bathroom and run downstairs to make us some eggs and bacon.

30 minutes later I hear Carson come down the stairs ready for the day. We both quickly eat our breakfeast and leave the house, locking it up, and jumping in the car to drive to school.

I honestly don't know why I missed school. What was it that I missed besides my friends and about 1 or 2 teachers? Oh, that's right, nothing. As I sit in calculus I think about why I would miss the torture that is school. 2 minutes until the bell rings come on! I need release even if it's just lunch.

I look around the class and I see most of the other kids feel the same way I do. Second day and everyone already wants to leave. New record? I think so.

Finally, the bell rings releasing me from numbers until tomorrow.

I quickly stop by my locker and then head to the cafeteria for lunch. There, I buy an apple, a water, a tuna sandwich, and some fries. Gotta have my fries.

I head over to our table and notice that everyone I pass on the way are whispering about some party. When I sit down at the table my curiosity gets the better of me and I decide to ask what it's all about.

"What's this party everyones talking about?" I ask everyone at the table, hoping for an answer. I'm not a huge partier, but I'm also a teenager and I must admit that when I go to one I have a great time.

"Drew's having a party at his house on Friday. Sort of like a back to school shindig." Luke explains while mindlessly playing with a strand of my hair.

"Shindig? What are you my grandma?" Anah asks sarcastically from across the table.

We all laugh while Luke pouts and blushes a bit embarassed. I kiss him on the cheek and aww at his cuteness.

"Anyways," Carson says, making me pull away from Luke so I can focus on what he's saying, "were going to the party right?"

"Hell yeah!" Emily screams, attracting gazes towards our table. "I mean, yes, that would be a fun time." I giggle, she can be so weird sometimes. Is blonde her natural hair colour? Who knows. I decide to put that on my list of Things to ask Em one day.

Speaking of Emily, she must have been trying to get my attention when I zoned out because my eyes are suddenly drawn to the hand waving across my face.

"You ringed, Emily?" I joke as she rolls her eyes at my choice of vocabulary.

"Actually yes, I did," she jokes back, "I was wondering if you wanted to come over tonight?" I check my imaginary calender to see if I have any plans already, and I don't.

"It would be a pleasure." I smile a cheesy smile why Emily just roles her eyes again. One day they'll get stuck in the back of her head, I swear.

Luke puts his arm around my waist. "Everyone gets time with you but me? I'm hurt Cupcake, I really am." Now it's my turn to roll my eyes as I playfully hit Luke in the arm.

"Oh shush you. I'll hang out with you tomorrow after school okay?" I look up at him through my lashes, giving him a little bit of a puppy dog look.

"Okay." My mind immediatly goes to The Fault in our Stars one of my favourite books and movie. I turn and look at Emily knowning she's thinking the same thing, and I see I'm right as she's already looking back at me. We exchange quick, creepy looks that a professional pedophile would be proud of. Is that a real job? I don't know but it makes sense anyways.

"Really guys? Can you stop you're creeping out everyone in the cafeteria," Carson laughs, "anyways I have to go. Lunch is almost over and I have to go to my locker. Bye!"

I turn to Luke and everyone else. "I actually have to go to my locker too, I'll see you guys later!" I give Luke a quick kiss goodbye, and speedwalk to catch up with Carson.

"Hey Carson? You didn't tell me about Florida last night. How was it?" I wonder if anything important happened that sprouted this change in him.

We turn a corner and stop at our locker. As I'm opening mine I can see him out of the corner of my eye looking a bit distant, like he's remembering something. I grab my purse and stuff my books for fourth period in my bag, Carson and I have spare next. "Carson? Hello?"

He snaps out of it. "I'll tell you another time," he says and the bell rings, "but I've got to get to class."

"Okay, bye." He walks away and I'm left wondering why he looked so weird when I brought up Florida. Also, we have spare now, so why did he leave like his ass was on fire?
