"Yah! Come back!" the eight-year-old prince yelled as he chased Jungkook around the first level of the castle. Even though Jungkook was only six, he was a lot faster than the prince.
Jungkook turned a corner and disappeared from the prince's sight, as did the prince's diary he didn't want the younger to read. There was only one entry clumsily written on a random page in the middle of the diary. but it was one that the prince never wanted his best friend to read. The prince was afraid to write in it too much because he never wanted it to become full. He loved holding the white diary in his hand and tracing the shimmering gold letters on the front cover that read "Kim Taehyung" in a small swirly font.
The young prince continued running and searching for Jungkook around the castle. He looked in every room he could think of and was allowed to go in and finally gave up when there were no more rooms to search. Taehyung went back to his bedroom and pouted.
A few moments later, Jungkook slowly walked into the prince's bedroom to find the pouting boy.
"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked the prince.
"Did you read it?" Taehyung asked as he looked up at the younger with a worried expression.
"I did."
Taehyung looked down in embarrassment but Jungkook sat down on the bed and wrapped his arms around the prince.
"I love you too Taehyungie," the younger said as he smiled into Taehyung's neck.
"You do?" Taehyung asked.
Jungkook hummed in response.
Their moment didn't last long as a servant burst into the prince's room and asked for Jungkook.
"What's happening?" Taehyung asked.
"It's Jungkook's father! H-He's being executed!" the servant said and pulled Jungkook by the arm with the diary still in his hand. Jungkook yanked his arm from the woman's loose grip and looked up at her, terrified.
"What do you mean he's being executed!?" he shouted.
"T-They said he stole something. He's going to be decapitated and the king said he needed to see you," the woman explained frantically.
Taehyung stood up to go with them but the woman stopped him.
"It is nothing of your concern Prince Taehyung," she said in a surprisingly stern tone of voice and fixed her burning gaze on him until he sat back down. The woman escorted the young Jungkook out of the room, who was already crying at this point.
Taehyung sat in his room for a few minutes and wondered why his father would be executing the most loyal guard in the castle.

Jungkook never did come back to the castle after that. Taehyung misses the boy more and more with each day that passes by. He hopes Jungkook is at least safe and alive somewhere, even if he never sees him again.
