Why Jump?

My friend and I are just playing.

We are on a roof up in a building.

We are running around.

I watch the blue sky on top of me turn into a pinkish orange color as the sun sets.

I feel something watching me, but I don't turn around.

"I dare you to stand  near the edge," I find myself saying. My friend looks at me puzzled, but still moves towards the edge of the building.

Half of me wants to stop her.

Something tells me not to though.

I watch as my friend walks slowly to the edge.

She takes a small step, and I take a big step.

When she gets to the edge she turns around.

Her hazel eyes look towards me. I stop moving.

"Bye. Bye," she said as she waves at me.

She lets herself fall. I run and fall too.

Somehow I end up near her in midair.

I catch my friend, and protect her by embracing her with my arms

. I let my back to face towards the floor.

Cold wind passes against us as we fall.

Then,

I feel the floor.

I hit the floor with so much force,

that I feel pain go through my spine.

"I said bye. Bye"

she repeats many times.

I close my eyes.

I feel pain.

Light,

light is the only thing I see,

but then I see darkness.

I feel someone near me,

I feel someone touch my shoulder.

I feel wind blow in my ear.

It was not wind it was a whisper.

"Why you jump for?" I hear. That was the last thing I heard

before I stood in darkness,

forever.
