The Unknown

Chapter 3

It was around 7am, I was waking up and looking around. The sun was shining and the fie was out only the ashes remained. Hunting came to my mind, I was really hungry. I carefully got out of my shelter and took a big stretch. In the distance I could see some apple trees, that was a good place to start. Despite the boiling sun I was happy to be away from that death trap. The golden sun beamed down on my neck all the way to the trees, I managed to get 3 apples and some leaves. I ought to make sure the leaves were edible but I was so hungry I didn't care. Exhausted I made my way back to my camp, on the way back I had found 2 dead rabbits and a dead turkey. This would make a good meal but I needed some sort of knife. Eventually I remembered the blade I had in my pocket. Carefully I eased it out and took the blade out and cut away at 1 rabbit and the turkey, I also found some roots which I chopped up and put over the fire. Quickly I ate because I knew the "unknown" girl would come for me soon. As time went by I done lots of things around the camp, I even made a bed in a tree in case an emergency. Suddenly I heard a leaf snap, I pulled the blade out of my pocket and positioned myself. I was expecting an animal to jump out at me but that never happened. Instead a boy came, he looked 18 and very hungry. He must've smelled the food cooking on the fire and came to investigate. He wasn't armed so I dropped my blade and ran over to greet him. "Hello" He smiled. "Hi, I'm Kayleigh. Nice to meet you" I replied with a smile. "I'm Taylor" He exclaimed, for a while we sat and talk. He didn't have a camp so I offered him to stay here. After a lot of talking we finally understood why each other was here. I made lunch while he made better clothes because I also had some thread in my pocket. I tried to ration the food but 2 of us drinking and eating in this hot sun was a problem. He gobbled up the meal and I got to work on getting more food. I came back with a lot but I mostly just wanted to go to be me, alone and free. I told him about the "Unknown" Girl and that she would come after me. He promised to protect me but I had a bigger problem, When I left the building went up in flames behind me. I think the girl got angry the man let me go and let him burn in a burning building. I'm responsible for his death and I don't want to live knowing that. But my life might not be as long as I think. Either the girl will kill me or I'll die of starvation. I'd rather starvation but I want to help Taylor who confirmed he was 17.
