For thousands of years there was no resistance, no fighting, simply a one sided killing.
No weapon could pierce its scales, no armour could stop its claws and no building that could withstand the hellish heat of dragonfire.
Until Him.
------------------------------------------
The dragon reeled its head back, the hellish grumbling getting louder from within its throat, a crimson red glow permeated through its neck scales. The boy held his father's sword up high, he knew what was going to happen, he would be consumed by the dragon fire, and be with his parents once more.
But he would not give in, not until his last breath.
The Dragon sunk its claws into the ashen ground, the boy did the same, his flesh singeing from the scorching heat, not that he could feel it anymore.
He closed his eyes as the dragon thrust its head forward, flames spewing out of its mouth like water rushing out of a dam.
The boy waited, gripping the sword tighter with his bloodied hands.
But nothing happened.
Had he already died?
He slowly opened his eyes, to see fire enveloping him, curving and twisting around his body. His skin burned and scorched, red veins of lava coursed in-between scale like plates that now littered his body. Though he felt no pain, no heat, no overwhelming agony.
Then it ceased.
The boy looked to the dragon, gaining a mad look in his eyes and a devilish smirk on his lips, defiance rolling off him in waves. Like its child, the scaled beast backed away, growling and snarling.
The boy presumed that the dragon would leave. Although he didn't know why, it seemed to be scared by him. Letting out a guttural roar, he stepped back in front of his parent's bodies, who had been shielded from the fire by his body.
Looking at the scaled predator he noticed that it was oddly quiet, the boy had seen dragons kill people in the space of seconds, they could rip you to shreds in no time at all, but this one seemed to be pensive, as if it was analysing him.
It looked fearful.
The scale creature started to sidestep around the boy, cracking rubble and ground beneath its smouldering claws. Its plated face formed into a scowl, fire rumbling from its throat.
The boy closed his eyes, the smell of burning flesh prominent in the air. "No closer."
The dragon stepped forward.
"Nec Ultra" The boy's lips formed into unfamiliar words, his body moving without his own command.
Taking a step back, the dragon looked fearful.
"Uentis rusticus" He opened his eyes but instead of the dark brown eyes that he was born with, two, turquoise, slitted eyes showed, not too different from his scaled enemy. His senses were assaulted by a multitude of sounds and smells, his head pounded from the sheer amount of information.
Suddenly his entire body felt like it had been crushed under the weight of a house, he couldn't move a muscle, his new sense of sight picked up something new though, what seemed like blue vapour rolling off his skin. It was coming from everywhere, his hands, his feet, his chest.
Against the agonising pain that he felt, he looked at the scaled beast that stood ready to kill, and once again his lips formed into unfamiliar words, words that he had never even heard of before.
"Et Morietur..." His arm moved of his own accord, palm facing out towards its target, he could see the vapour pooling around his body, more of it seemingly being pulled from thin air, permeating the space around him.
He closed his eyes once more.
"Cinis fieri"
All would burn before him.
