Lost (EXO LOVE STORY)

The host looked down at her card and I swallowed hard, praying that the name would be mine.

Around was a sea of voices, muted as if they truly were under water.

Suddenly, as I watched the host's lips, the world went silent.

I dropped to my knees.

The blinding lights all around me went out.

It was like all I'd ever worked for was destroyed in that moment.

The name was not mine. I lost.

"Natalie," Mrs. Hall, president of the recording company, began as she stared me down. "Do you know why I've brought you here?"

I shook my head, 'no'. I had no idea why. I figured that as soon as my name had failed to be called, it was all over for me. What was I doing here? I had no idea.

"You're a very talented girl, Natalie. You really are. While your dancing is not the best, your singing is some of the best I've heard on the show... Do you know where I'm going with this?"

"If you're trying to get my hopes up just so that you can crush them, please stop. Please." I practically begged the wretched woman. I was already on the verge of tears and I felt like I was going to break down any second.

"That's not it," She sighed. "I can see you're very upset though, so I'll get straight to the point. Okay?"

I hesitantly nodded.

"You are quite the character, Mrs. Wilde. Our audience is very taken with you, even though you didn't even make the top three. You always appear so cold and distant. You're bitter almost all the time and have an aura of ignorance, but still you have everyone on the show and even the crew wanting to befirend you. How can this be? This has been a mystery to me this entire series. But then, as I watched you more and more, you began to open up a little bit. You started with your amazing humor that put everyone into hysterics... You're not a very pretty girl, but your smile is so bright that it lights the way for anyone who sees it. You have a hidden charisma under that cold mask. A secret twinkle in your eye..... I suppose you're wondering why I'm bringing all of this up?"

I nodded my head with a frown.

"What I'm trying to say is, while you didn't win, your personality is one that is very marketable. A 'bad girl' image that is both alluring and dangerous...."

Suddenly her hand pushed a thick packet of papers across the slick, dark wooden desk. It stopped just in time, facing me. I read the first word. 'Contract'.

Heart exploded.

I jumped up with an excited squeal.

Throwing my arms up in the air.

"It's a wild risk, but I'm willing to take it because I see something bright in you. That is, if you say yes?" Mrs. Hall looked at me expectanlty.

Tears were in my eyes.

Pen was in my hand.

I had never been so happy.

"Of course!"
