Chapter one:
"I wish I was you." She Says.
____August 28, 2017
Freaking, go to sleep Maya. You're going to your high school for the first time and it's with people you don't know at all. Go. To. Sleep. It's... *checks the time* ... three twenty- six in the morning and you have to wake up at six.
I'm so not ready for school tomorrow. I turn on Twenty Øne Piløts on low, and start to doze off. In doing so, Alya, my little sister, walks in.
"Ugh, what is it?"
"I'm scared."
"You're gonna be in junior high tomorrow. In a few hours actually. You don't have time to be scared."
"Would if I don't fit in?"
"You don't need to fit in. Just do you and let people come to you. That's what I do. Alya, you need to stop caring so much about other people's opinions. They'll mean nothing to you in a couple of months."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"Now get out. I was just falling asleep."
"Night."
"Hmm."
I go to sleep. Finally.
___
I wake up to my phone going off and having a freaking panic attack over on my nightstand. I get out of bed and turn it off. I look at my bed. It looks so comfortable. No. That's what made you late last year. Just look away.
I turn around and start pulling my hair back to clean my face. Once it's up, I wash my face with this scrub. It feels so good againts my face. Wakes me up though. My dog comes in and greets me by yawning and laying on the ground.
"Same." I simply say as I pick my brand new foundation and beauty blender.
I've never worn makeup in my life and I was gonna start today. I watched tons of makeup tutorials online, so I hope this goes well. I just bought this makeup, along with new clothes. My old clothes were all uniform that my dumb old school made me wear. My new clothes are from stores like Forever 21 and Hot Topic and American Eagle.
I apply my makeup which goes pretty well, considering I could barley see. Oh yeah, I wear big dorky glasses. Because I'm like blind without them. Just don't worry about that. Um.. what was I saying. Oh yeah, my makeup looks good. Foundation's well blended, eyeliner looks even, and eyeshadow is my favorite color. Grey.
"Alya!" I yell to my sister in the other room.
"Yeah!?"
"Come here!".
"Yap. Hold on."
She walks in and says,
"What?" In a blunt voice. Just like me.
"Braid my hair. I don't know how."
"Ugh fine."
"Thanks."
When she's done, I look in the mirror and it looks cute. I slip on my holographic cat ear headband, so my hair won't get in my face during school. Along with my headband, I'm wearing a striped tee shirt with my Panic! at the Disco jacket over it and pale grey jeans with my holographic converse. I pull my brown leather bag over my shoulder and walk in Alya's room. She's finishing up flat ironing her hair. Looks painful. Hard pass.
"Hey hurry, I'm ready to go."
"Almost done."
"Mkay." I say and head down stairs.
