Nyx
Nyxeria's hands were shaking as she pushed the elevator button. She couldn't believe that Travis wanted to talk to her. She had admitted to trying to kill him. Why would he want to see her? Why would he drop the charges against her? Didn't he care that he almost died? She kept her head down as she maneuvered through hallways and medical personals. Then she came to Travis' door. He looked terrible. He was pale, thin, and worn. Tears stung her eyes. She pushed them back. He looked up. Their eyes meet. He smiled. Travis genuinely smiled at her without any animosity. Nyxeria's fears melted. She was home.
"Hello, my darling," he said.
"Hello, sweetie," she said.
"I'm so sorry," they both said. Smiling she strode into the room. She sat on the bed and held his hand. They sat in silence, letting the other know exactly what they felt.
"How..." Nyxeria started.
Travis cut in, "I know you didn't do it. I don't care what happened."
"How could you trust that it wasn't me?"
"You trust the people you love. You trust them to the ends of the earth because without them the earth would seize to exist."
"I should have never let you go," she admitted.
"It was a very stupid decision," Travis agreed with her.
"How can we make this work?"
"Because we both want it. It is not going to be easy, but it is worth it. I kept blaming my problems on others. I tried to leave everything behind me, and it just followed me. We have to take our lives into our own hands. I want to be happy, and I want to be happy with you. Nyxeria forgive me for not realizing that some people are worth it."
Nyxeria kissed him, "I can't spend my life passing up living. So I love you, and I always will."
And there they sat. Two people in love who made the decision that some things are worth fighting for.
The End.
