Chapter Two
I get to Luke's house, and he pulls his front door open, as soon as I get up the steps on his porch.
"I thought you weren't coming, I saw your dad's truck" he says, hugging me. "What took so long?" He asks.
"My dad, and then I ran into an asshole on the street." I sigh. Luke nods and grabs my bag.
"Let's go to the basement." He says, starting down his stairs.
I follow him into the large, spacious basement. In the center of the wall, there is a large plasma TV, and infront of that is a black leather couch. The floor is covered in dark cherry wood hardwood flooring. He drops my bag onto the couch. "You seem.. not too bothered when you said you ran into an asshole outside, was he prince charming or something?"
"Are you daft? When I call someone an asshole they're obviously not charming" I scoff.
"You call everyone an asshole Lil" Luke smirks. "You sure he wasn't hot? Maybe he was your soulmate!" Luke says, wiggling his fingers like it's magic.
"That's not even funny. Don't joke about that" I say sternly. He stops smiling and sticks his tongue out at me.
"Fun ruiner"
"Did you just say ruiner?" I cock an eyebrow at him.
"Yes. Yes I did" he nods proudly. I punch his shoulder lightly, and flop onto the couch. Luke laughs and sits beside me. "You're weaker" He says, "Well weaker than you were.".
"Shut up and stop going to the gym" I say, laying down on the couch now. He grabs my feet and pulls them upwards, so he can sit. He sits down, and places them on his lap.
A while later
"Luke I should go home" I yawn. We've now watched two movies, and I'm pretty sure it's two AM. Maybe three.
"No you shouldn't. Sleepovers are called that because you sleep over somewhere." Luke laughs. I smile and stand up, stretching.
"Can I go get my pillows?" I ask, yawning. Luke sighs and nods. I grab my jacket and quickly exit his house.
As I step out I notice the same guy, unloading boxes again.
"Still going?" I cock an eyebrow.
"You again?" He says, resting a box on the side of his truck.
"Yes me again. I kind of live right there" I nod towards my house.
"Move the fuck out of the way!" the guy yells, running at me. I hear tires screech as he runs into me, grabbing me and pulling me to the ground with him.
My head hits the pavement and I cough as the air leaves my lungs. I roll onto my.back and breathe hard.
"What just happened?" I ask, sitting up slowly, dry heaving.
"I just saved your life!" The guy yells. I glance over and notice the car that almost hit me is my father's truck. He steps out of his vehicle and I see the guy infront of me tense up. "What the fuck?! You almost killed her!" He yells at my father.
"Too bad I didn't!" my father yells back.
"What the fuck dad?!" I yell, before gagging again. "I'm gunna be sick!" I gasp. I hear hurried footsteps and soon Luke is by my side, rubbing my back.
"Are you okay?" he asks me, eyes wide. I shake my head as I throw up on the road. Luke continues rubbing my back, before slowly helping me up.
"That's your dad?" The guy asks. I nod slowly, looking down. He marches over to my dad and I hear yelling back and forth.
"C'mon Lil. Let's go inside" Luke says, slowly walking me to his house. As police sirens sound in the distance, he scoops me up into his arms and hurries inside his house.
The next day
I walk into the house and find my mother sitting on the couch, reading a book.
"Your father got put in jail for two days, for drunk driving" She sighs.
"He almost ran me over" I say, kicking my shoes off.
"He was really drunk Lilac." My mother says, putting her book down.
"He said he wouldn't have cared if he did" I sit on the couch across from her.
"I'm sorry" My mother sighs, looking down. "I'm glad that boy helped you" She says, slowly meeting my eyes.
"Me too. I should go thank him" I say, standing up again.
Soon I'm standing outside the door of the house next to mine. I rang the doorbell, but I don't think it actually made noise. I start knocking, and the door quickly opens. "Yes?" The tall blond haired boy answers.
"Um.. I just wanted to say thank you about last night." I say awkwardly.
"Don't mention it. I really just didn't want to watch someone get run over, nothing personal" he says. Ouch.
"By the way.. what's your name?" I ask.
"Why do you care?" he answers my question with a question.
"I need to know who to send the flowers to. Just kidding, can't I know the name of the guy who pretty much saved my life?" I ask.
"Pretty much? I did save your life. Jerrick." He says.
"Huh?"
"My name is Jerrick" He says.
"Oh sorry. I'm Lilac" I smile.
"Cool. I'm going to go back inside now. Goodbye" He says, shutting the door slowly.
"Thanks again!" I yell as he shuts the door.
